Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

Not many people know about it here but I signed up for it due to my tutor mentioning it in class.
So from the posters who are more privy to Twitter, can you please explain how it works? Is it just another social network site?
And who else on the forums have a twitter account?

Pretty much you just upload random shit and post little blrubs on what you are doing right now. So before bed, I'd say I'm going to bed, before work, I'd say Im going to work, at lunch I'd say.......see? Mine would be boring as fuck.
It is more like a miniblog than a social network site, I believe you can send updates to it via cell phone as well.

another thing which' popularity astounds me. it's the equivalent of passing notes in school having written on the note that you are in the middle of passing notes in school.

Taking a term from it's Wikipedia entry, "SMS of Internet" seems like a fitting way to describe the way it works though the posts are immediately public in contrast to an SMS or IM chat software. It strikes me as being useful for posting live updates about whatever, blogging in real time as it were, but for mundane day-to-day stuff it doesn't seem worth it and you can do those kind of updates on the other social network sites anyway.

If all you do is post what you're doing, or that's all the people you read do, it's stupid and you're stupid.
But it does have its uses when used in more broad informative manners.

True, but Shaq didn't get admonished for it.
