what is going to happen to the lakers in 2 to 3 years. malone and GP will be gone and Kobe may be another team. Will their still be Laker fans everywhere or will they switch to another team and start cheering for them? i never seen this topic up, and Shaq will also be a FA in 3 years. Do yall know any plans for them?

When the rebuilding period occurs, sure there's going to be probably a 70% fan drop-off. That's what's going to separate the real from the fake. I'd hate to see Kobe leave, but at the same time I would understand. Dealing with Shaq's ego ain't easy. The bitch is 31 and still cares more about stats than winning. I'd still be a Kobe fan because he's a Laker great, but fuck that, I believe in loyalty and that goes way pass basketball. When Shaq finally retires and goes to become everything I stand against the Lakers will have the cash to sign damn near three guys to the max, and everybody wants to play in Tinsletown. So I don't expect us to be bad for long. Either way I ain't going NOWHERE.

in 2 to 3 years the Lakers will be down and the Yao Dynasty, King James Era, 'Melo Time, KG Attack, t-mac show, and the Klippers (k for kobe lol) shall begin....well might begin, but you get the picture, the young ones today shall start being the great ones then

Sure, that's why Shaq is the most valuable player on the Lakers roster...and the lakers piggy backed on his shoulders to three straight championships, now dont get me wrong, I'm not sayin LA could have done it without kobe...but give credit where due. Kobe is replaceable in the lineup in the three years they did win the Championship, Shaq isnt. :roll:

As for the topic:

They too will go through the rebuilding phase, hopefully the GM will make some smart moves, get us some talent...it's a cycle, ups and downs...the length of the ups and downs is what we await. Anyways, Lakers will be fine with a few down years in the middle.

Oh, I'll be right here, like I was when they had Floppy Divac (yes, even back then :roll:

)...I just like the jersey's too much.

It's hard to say if I'll remain a Laker fan. I just became one this year because wherever GP goes, they become my #1 team. I don't know who'll I'll root for once he retires. It's just so hard picturing the league without him. If the Lakers decline while GP's still there(which I doubt will happen though he's very reiable in not injuring and has always had consistent stats) I'll stay a Laker fan. So, whichever happens first, whether it's the Glove retiring or the Lakers declining, I'll see see what I end up doing. It's hard to say now what I'll do when I don't even know when it's going to happen.

No matter if Kobe or/and Shaq leave, Im a Lakers fan since the Ceballos, Van Exel, Jones, Campbell, Divac etc etc..days. Kobe is the 1st and only player who I really became a fan of, but If he leaves, that doesnt matter to me, he will still be my favorite player, but I will remain chearing for the Lakers no matter what.... (Y)

First off, Shaq's been my favorite player since he played for LSU so i wasn't putting down his ability or his importance to the team.I was talking about his ego. You forgot to write that when you were quoting me though didn't you? Shaq said it it himself after only scoring 7 against the Spurs in their second matchup that he wanted to go for 50 against the Pacers to keep his stats impressive. I don't even need to go into the comments he made to Kobe at the begining of the season. Secondly, did you forget who shoots the big shots? Nobody and I mean NOBODY else in the league has made as many big shots as Kobe. I suggest you stop trying to pick an argument with me, and think about what you're saying...

Ups and downs happen in sports today. every team goes through the same phases to become a great team oh unless your the clippers who draft, and draft and draft and all of there players leave after there 3yr contract is up. but yeah the lakers could be at the bottom of the league right now and i would still be a lakers fan. but i also cant wait for Lebron and the cavs start taking over the EAST.

After 3 or 4 years of futility talk about being loyal, not now. Shaq is the most dominant player not named "tim duncan" the nba, so why not use him? Shaq doesnt care to much about stats, he cares about winning. Kobe has developed well and wants to show the world how good of a player he is (he said that), so i think thats his top prioity. then comes winning, then money etc etc. You look at how malone and payton have made shaq better, and you watch previous years with kobe and shaq and kobe didnt play off shaq too much.. the great players make their teamates better, and i dont really see kobe doing that.

Since the showtime days, through to the hurtful Divac,Ceballos,Van Exel days(still a team that won some, but hurtful to see after what showtime had produced)
Lakers forever, but ill always be a kobe fan, no matter where he goes.

I will say this. The only time I liked the Lakers was the Divac, Nick "blimp lips" Van Exel, Ceballos era. Remember blimp lips dropping that turn around three on the Celtics in the last game at the Garden? Great stuff.

Like someone said, LA should have no problem attracting good free agents if they can't retain any of their players, so I don't see the franchise suffering too long in any case.

Nba Fan you're talking about something Kobe said three years ago....When there was absolutely no problem going on this season Shaq felt he had to lay his nuts down, and tell Kobe he doesn't need to shoot the ball untill his legs get better.Not to Kobe but to the media. So Kobe retorts he can handle his, he should worry about the post, which was the truth because last year Shaq wasn't on his J-O-B, and Kobe got the okay from PHIL to shoot the ball more. So Shaq comes out like a big ass fucking kid talking about "This is my team, I won't be taking that on my ship (WTF) if you don't like it you can opt out". Then this cocksucker starts talking about how everyone can continue to give Kobe everything like they always do. Nba Fan, what, you weren't listening? Well I tend to pay attention to shit like that. That's not just an ego-maniac, that's a jealous ego-maniac. How could you say that about your teammate that you would be nothing without? 95 Finals prime example. If you don't have a player to make big shots you won't get it done . And what, Shaq's made three (and I'm sure i'm exaggerating) of those in his whole career? And another thing we didn't start winning championships until Kobe started passing the ball. We didn't win last year because Shaq didn't want to get surgery during the off-season (he said and I quote I didn't get injured on my time why should I have to heal on it?), never made any attempt to stay in playing shape and was nowhere near even being the second most dominant player in the league. I've noticed alot of people are still living in a fantasy world where Shaq is still that super bad ass most dominant player in the league that he was in 2000 and 2001. He's Not. Watch and old game and see the difference for yourself. The fact that he's actually in shape this year and has Karl and GP on the floor to keep teams from double teaming him before he gets the ball( the addition of Zone defenses didn't do him any favors either) he's been able to show flashes of his old brilliance, but he is not the same player and will never be again because he's 31 plus and only getting older.

Hey stevan? You remember the year my boy Van Exel beat the dog shit out of that ref? That has to be my favorite moment in sports history. I miss him being a Laker. He would come down court jack up a three and then start shadowboxing, or if we were on the road instead of doing the raise the roof he'd lower it. Now those were the days.

Did anybody catch when Marv Albert said during the Dallas game that if the Lakers get their four hall of famers in the all-star game it would be the first time four players from the same team went? He must have forgot about the 98 Lakers. I just knew we were going to win it all that year....SHIT!!! did I hate the Jazz back then.

In the Laker's first championship season they also had Glen Rice back when he was still a superstar, which allowed Shaq to te. Then Rice left and Kobe stepped up. Then last year they had a bad regular season and lost confidence. Two years ago, Horry would have made that shot against the Spurs, and it's not because he is less clutch now. This year, they have GP who is one of the best points ever and malone who is the best pf ever.

In 3 years GP will be declining but I think he will stick around for a while. Karl Malone will be retired. If Kobe and Shaq are still there then I think they will still be good, but not great. Shaq will not be half as good as he is now, but Kobe will be 27 and even better than he is now. They will probably pick up some good free agents every year though and never really get bad, until Kobe/Shaq leave.

Horry is a confidence player. His confidence rises when the team's making a run. Other than that he's none existent. It shocked the shit out of me when he missed that shot in San Antonio. That's usually all he's good for. But then again he didn't make a single field goal the entire playoffs...He big sold us out.

I'm not sure where you were going with the whole Glen Rice thing. But we had Glen for half of the season before our first championship, and he never lived up to the amount we gave for him (Eddie Jones and Elden Campbell for him and J.R. Reid). He never became that third scorer we wanted and he didn't leave we didn't want him back. They told him and his uppity wife they could kiss our ass. He had one stellar game, the last game of the season going into the playoffs of 99 against Portland, but other than that he was little more than a designated shooter.
