I guess NBA fans should considering read this.

This may sound funny.

Commissioner David Stern has been there for the longest time now. I mean how long is the term for an NBA commissioner?
It' s not that I hate him or love him, it's just that, is he like the POPE where he will only be replaced when he dies?

There is no set term length. He's there until he decides to call it quits or a huge scandal he can't possibly recover from forces him to step down.

As for Stern being a poor commissioner, I disagree. We focus on the bad stuff a lot and he's rightfully criticised for it but the good things he's done for the league in making it so successful during his tenure tend to get ignored.

Every person has both good sides and bad sides to him, but Stern's good sides outweigh the bads, no doubt about that. Eventhough I have to partially agree with what Rasheed Wallace said a few years back, that "This game ain't basketball anymore, it's entertainment, it's starting to get like the WWE. There ain't no real wrestling anymore either. It's all fake.", Stern is still a great commissioner considering all the great things he have done during his tenure. Be it NBA Cares, whatever.

If you understood what I said, It wasn't about his performance or what, but as an NBA fan, I was just wondering about the term of commissioner stern, is he it like the POPE or what,

Stern's responsible for taking basketball from a moderately popular American sport to a global one, almost singlehandedly.

I think his tenure is decided by all 30 team owners by a confidence vote. He makes owners more money, and players more money, no major complaints from both sides I guess.
HE'S USING HYPNOSIS!

It's not as though all his contempories atop the other major professional sporting leagues have squeaky clean records and haven't made their share of bad decisions either. If Stern isn't the best, who is?
