Mayo, Durant and Johnson will be competing in H-O-R-S-E.

The contest will take place outdoors on Saturday in Phoenix before TNT televises the All-Star Saturday night festivities.

Players will have 24 seconds to execute their shots, and an NBA referee will rule if they're done prope

The field is announced, Joe Johnson, O.J Mayo, and Kevin Durant.

My vote goes to JJ.

Uhm, I think it will last longer the less people are in it, or am I not getting something here?
If someone does a move the chances are high that at least either one of the other two is missing it, so their geico is complete pretty early isn't it?

Hopefully this will be something creative, not just some "ah fuck it, I just shoot a three" kind of thing.
I guess they'll come up with something good though.

I take OJ ftw.

Tough to pick a winner in this, if they do get really creative with it then sheer luck is going to trump skill at some point. I guess I'll go with Johnson.

I found some more archives of the old game of H-O-R-S-E back in the late 70s... This time it's not "Pistol" Pete Maravich going against the names of Bubbles Hawkins, George "Iceman" Gervin, and Kevin Grevey. It's Paul Westphal of the Phoenix Suns. This dude got some tricks in his sleeves. Watch him go against Lionel Hollins and John Williamson.

The tournament list of names? Yeah, the crazy thing about it was that they was doing it in the middle of the season. I wish I can find the clips for Rudy Tomjanovich.

Rofl. Never knew that. Today's HORSE, I think should involve more trick shots and dunks I believe. I wonder how many players will actually want to be in HORSE competition. IMO, Shaq/Dwight would make a great entertainer in this field.

Although Durant won, IMO he was the least creative, mainly going for jump shots. Both JJ and OJ tryed more complex shots. It was quite entertaining, I think this should remain as a side-event on ASW for next years as well and maybe expand it to the tournament type again.

Jao was the only one correct

Damn right

I loved it, entertaining, but kinda slow at first. The ending was nice and competitive. If you guys remember the beginning, at the end of the show they said they were going to do sudden death shootoff from the top of the 3 pt line if they ran out of time. KD went for those shots 10 minutes before the end of the show.

So what would you rather have seen, KD finishing off Mayo, or having them do a shootout.

Anyway, I finally got my modern HORSE NBA dream to come true. Who wants Knockout?

I just caught a few of the highlights. Looked OK but I'm not sure I'd make it a bigger part of All-Star Weekend just yet.

If they allowed some of the theatrics and stuff they do with the dunk contest horse could be awesome though. I expected more creativity and all i saw was basic stuff for NBA players.
