All-Star Reserves Revealed

Postby Andrew on Fri Jan 30, 2009 10:00 am

Adrian Wojnarowski has revealed the All-Star reserves:

West

Shaquille O'Neal
Pau Gasol
David West
Dirk Nowitzki
Tony Parker
Chauncey Billups
Brandon Roy

East

Jameer Nelson
Rashard Lewis
Paul Pierce
Joe Johnson
Chris Bosh
Devin Harris
Danny Granger

Solid enough selections across the board with seemingly likely snubs (such as Harris) instead getting the nod.

Good squads there. I would have liked David Lee to make it instead of Rashard Lewis, but am otherwise happy enough with those teams.

Wow 3 players from the Magic and only 2 from the defending champs? The west is great. This looks good (Y)

I know they doesn't deserve this year... but is pretty weird to see an all star game without Nash and Kidd...

Now, i think Garnett deserves it ahead of Pierce. And I'm happy that McGrady isn't in the AllStar

Where is Nash?! :( Pretty shitty selections. Rashard over Lee makes no sense. David West making it is a joke.

David West over Al Jefferson/Carmelo Anthony is a complete joke. Apart from that the West reserves look pretty good. Ray Allen probably deserved a spot over Rashard, but at least Lewis brings some height.Only other complaints are Amare and Iverson starting, but what can you do?
Also, Nash doesn't deserve to make it this year, with Phoenix not doing so well, he can't hide behind D'Antoni's system anymore.

If anyone deserves a spot over the Shard its David Lee. Rondo would make it over Allen anyway.

Oops, i forgot about Lee, yeah he should get in over Lewis. And there is no way Rondo should be selected over Ray Allen, he is having a great year, shooting 50% FG, 42% 3PT & 94% FT.

Hmmm pretty solid selections except I would have Al Jefferson over David West on the Western team. I would also have David Lee over Rashard Lewis on the East. I still feel iffy about Jameer making the team, he is having a great year for the Magic but is he really all-star material? I am not too dissapointed that David Lee didn't make it, he is having a great year and as long as he's playing for the Knicks I'll be happy.

I wouldn't have picked him myself either but it's not a completely unreasonable selection. With the amount of bigs on the West, Lee probably would've been a better choice but at the end of the day the coaches are voting for who they think deserve to be there and those 11th and 12th players aren't always going to balance each other out.

On East, I'd put Turkoglu or Lee ahead of Lewis....

On West, I'd put Melo in for West & Jefferson in & Parker out....I would've loved Nash to make it, especially since game is in Phoenix, but can understand him missing out....only player I would replace him with is Parker....

at the moment, the West frontcourt is Yao, Amare, Duncan, Nowitzki, Gasol, Shaq & David West....the theme here is they are all big men....not one wingman/SF, which is why Melo should've been there....

then you look at East frontcourt, which is Howard, Garnett, Lebron, Bosh, Granger, Pierce & Lewis....so it's more or less the opposite, all wingmen....

still really don't know how West makes it....I can understand him making it last year, but his production is down slightly, he's been out injured more & his team isn't winning as much....clear cut in my eyes....

Al Jefferson > Shaq
Carmelo Anthony > David West

That's all for me, although Carter not making the team is also disappointing.

I would've put Melo in over West as well though missing a couple of weeks has obviously cost him the coach's vote. I'd probably put Ray Allen in over Jameer Nelson too.

If all were healthy, I'd probably would have wanted to seer Boozer over Melo or West anyways. Overall, the selections seem quite reasonable as the stats of all individuals are awesome this year but I'm quite surprised to see both Nelson and Lewis getting the nods. 3 players from the Magic isn't something I expected. Their stats at least are great this year though.

Good,to see Harris in the all-star game,he's really playing great for the nets, and I think Melo or Big Al should've been in the all-star roster and replace West,as for the east Ray Allen deserves to be in the roster cause he is the most efficient 2 guard in offense in the whole league!

Ray Allen will replace Jameer Nelson in light of his potentially season ending injury.
