In the season Opener, Mo Williams wanted a make a good impression in his first game for Mike Brown. He scored at will in the 1st and ended up with 20 pts. The same thing can be said about J.J. Barea the 2nd string point guard who had 6 points and 9 assists!
It was close throughout the game both teams were going back in forth just trading buckets. The only difference was Cleveland was going hard in the paint while Dallas was hitting their shots. Nowitzki had a double double and led his team with 27 points and 12 rebounds. Lebron was doing everything he could filling up the stat sheet but it wasn't enough. Dallas sealed the game with some clutch freethrows.

In their season opener, Atlanta started the game with great defense, creating turnovers and turning them into fast breaks. Surprisingly that was just the beginning for Dallas. What really hurt them was Joe Johnson who was on fire throughout the game Making shots and driving to the lane. The game highlighted Terry's biggest weakness; defense. The Mavericks had no answer to him. The bench helped though, shortening the margin put on by the starting 5.
The combo of Barea, Wright, Green, and the rest of the bench had 36 points altogether. In the second half it was a repeat of the 1st except uglier. Howard and Terry were struggling offensively, but at least they injured Bibby, or they thought they did until he came back and pulled a Paul Pierce and took away any hope of winning. Cuban is looking at his options to trade Terry, defense would've gave them a win.

It was a tough game for the Mavericks, it was rough loss last night and then they had to travel from Atlanta to Dallas and play the next day. The guy who really gave the Mavericks trouble was point guard Bobby Jackson. He stepped up due to Udrih's upper body injury that put him on the bench for the rest of the game. Jackson had 21 points 7 rebounds and 9 assists. Kevin Martin threw in 24 points for the King. The Mavericks didn't have a lead until the last 4 seconds where Terry hit the game winning shot. It shook up Cuban's feelings if he shot trade Terry or not.

The Rockets were rolling on all cylinders. They were doing well on both sides of the court. Yao Ming and Luis Scola had double-doubles with 13pts/11rebs and 10pts/12rebs. McGrady filled up the stat sheet with 21 points 3 rebounds and 2 assists.Jason Terry had a hard time guarding McGrady, but he managed to injure Brent Barry and take him out for a few games. :P

The Mavericks' Josh Howard step up with 24 points 4 steals and 4 assists and helped start a 14-0 run for the Mavs. The Mavericks almost had a comeback in the 4th quarter but Steve "Franchise" Franchise trying to come back after a disappointing season made sure it didn't happen. The Franchise had 4assists and 14 points including clutch free throws to lock down the win for Houston. Kidd blames himself for fouling Franchise Francis in the waning minutes of the game.

Man, that Miller trade's something all Dallas fans have hoped for over the last one and a half years ;)

Would be awesome if it would costs us just Terry in real-life too :P

-Sources say the Spurs are willing to give up a shooting guard for a small forward. After research our assistant head coach says its definitely true. The Mavericks are thinking how they could take advantage but they don't want to give up Howard.

Dallas comes out victorious in 100-91 win

OAKLAND- The Golden State Warriors continue their losing streak at home, going 0-3 so far.

At the sound of the final buzzer, Monta Ellis walked of the court with a sign of disgust on his face.

“ Its embarrassing to start the season like this” said Monta Ellis to reporters .Ellis led the team 34 points, 5 assists and 2 steals in their home game against the Mavericks.

It has been a slow and unexpected start for the renovated Golden State with new weapons [Jamal] Crawford and [Corey] Magette and the loss of [Baron] Davis.

Sources say the problem is a backcourt log-jam between [Stephen] Jackson, [Monta] Ellis, [Jamal] Crawford and [Marcus] Williams. There has been a fight for minutes between the four and that has truly affected chemistry on and off the court.

“I’m not getting enough minutes and that’s why we’re losing”. Said Golden State Guard Stephen Jackson. “When I get my minutes we get our wins.”

The Mavericks on the other hand, felt great about the outcome of the game. “It was our best game of the season so far, we played great defense” said Dirk Nowitzki who led the Mavs to this win in his first season Double-Double with 24 points and 10 rebounds.
Nowitzki wasn’t lying, The Mavericks racked up 10 blocks and 13 steals, an amazing feat for any team in the NBA. However Golden State had a monopoly on the rebounds but they couldn’t take advantage.

“I still have faith in this team” said Forward Corey Magette. “There is more than enough time to turn around this record so everyone needs to stop panicking”

The Warriors are in 27th place with the record 1-4 only to be ahead of Sacramento, New York and Philadelphia who all have yet to win a game.

This layout looks good, but with a little more work they layout could be great. I can't really see the text under the Bayless picture in the recap.

Thaddeus Young led the 76ers with 17 points and 7 rebounds in a victory over the Mavericks.Elton Brand had 13 points and 7 rebounds. Nowitzki and Howard both had 15 points while Terry had 14. Diop was a great defensive stopper with 5 rebounds 2 steals and 3 blocks.
The Mavericks thought they were going to win for sure until Andre Igudala hit a game winning 3 over Terry even though he had a not-so-great(11 points 5/12 shooting) night. The Maverick's next game in their 4 game homestretch is against Division Rivals San Antonio.
Game Notes: Maverick's Center Erick Dampier was injured with a bone spur in his foot and will be out for 9 days.

AROUND THE LEAGUE
TRADE TALK
Image AND Image
The Houston Rockets trade G/F Brent Barry for Toronto's C Kris Humphries
Image Image
Mutombo has contemplated retirement this season so Rockets aren't taking any chances and get Humphries, a nice young big at the tender age of 23 to replace Mutombo when he retires and give up little to recieve him.
The Rockets undoubtedly won this trade. Brent Barry can only contribute so much to a team, hes old and his best years are behind him.
Knicks have a bittersweet victory
Image
Marbury walks off the court in an unsatisfied manner
The final buzzer goes off, and Marbury walks off the court in a melodramatic fashion.
Marbury has had a change of heart this season and has played his heart out. Unfortunately the rest of the team hasn't. Marbury gets his first double double in years but he and his teammates are upset. The Knicks have had the worst start ever in the histrory in the NBA with a pathetic start of 0-8.They get their first win against Denver, but its overshadowed by what they've done so far. Marbury is now asking to be traded, to who? Nobody knows, every team is better at this point.

Starting 5:
Centers: Marc Gasol|DeSagana Diop
(P)Fowards: Hakim Warrick| Dirk Nowitzki
(S)Fowards: Rudy Gay| Josh Howard
(S)Guards: O.J. Mayo| Jason Terry
(P)Guards: Mike Conley| Jason Kidd

KEY MATCHUP
Josh Howard Rudy Gay

20.9 PPG 4 RPG 16.2PPG 3.3RPG

Its pretty simple what Dallas has to do to win this game. Hold back Gay,Mayo and Gasol who has suprised the league averaging 10 points 10 rebounds. Memphis isn't that great of a team, but they are young and atheltic and are waiting for some team to slip so they can add a win to their poor record.
