Post PC Patch Evaluation

Talk about NBA 2K9 here, as well as all previous games in the NBA 2K series.

Post PC Patch Evaluation

Postby TC#10 on Thu Jan 15, 2009 3:23 pm

Here is a couple of things I've noticed after downloading the Official NBA 2K9 Patch for the PC:

1) Shoe textures for some players are missing (Haslem's shoes are just plain white)

2) After resetting the roster, noticed player attributes have been updated + new dunk packages were found for some players

3) I've been playing against the Heat (cpu) multiple times to test out the new gameplay and noticed that the CPU's Superstar (Wade) was not dominant as he should be, he was passing up shots and was not the main focus of the offense

4) Cannot back down anyone into the post for an easy score anymore

5) Did not really see an increase amount of mid-range shots taken by the cpu

Issue 3) really concerns me since I was able to fix this problem before the patch but now with the patch, cpu's superstars are not playing like they should be. I also believe that previous roster patches that were made prior to the release of the update should not be used since dunk packages for certain players (Wade has a dunk package of 10) will not be present and therefore roster patches should be re-created to compensate the changes made by the NBA 2K9 Patch.

For Issue 5) I thought the patch would address this and increase the mid-range game for the cpu teams but when I was playing, I really did not notice an increase amount of mid-range shots taken.

What are your thoughts about the patch and what else have you noticed about the patch?

Also to add, the camera settings do not save and you will have to adjust them whenever you start NBA 2K9

You cannot stay away from the patch because once u start the game the patch will automatically download the patch, that's if you have the real game though...

Hey bro, you don't experience less Star Player domination with the roster update after the patch (Wade takes fewer shots and look to pass more rather than scoring)?

If not, could you tell us what changes you have made with the updated roster and slider changes you have made? Thanks

Billups does not play for the Pistons. Download the patch and reset your roster.

The patch solves many performance problems (lag) but now the camera is not saved anymore. I play with Nose bleeds, zoom 10, height 1. After restarting the game, the cam is always reset to 5 and 5.

I think there are other save problems as well. I turned off goaltending and after a restart it was on again.

Anyone who is able to solve the Superstar Domination Bug, please post your solution here since the NBA 2K9 Patch made superstars less dominant now.

Nope. Wasn't true for me. Pretty much the rosters are currently spot on. Nenad Krstic is still missing from the game though, and there were one or two other changes (couple people needed to be released, couple others needed to be on teams), but Billups and company were all on the right teams.

The thing that is annoying me the most is that the 2K guys made some cyberfaces for the new players, but didn't for others. They went as far as making faces for George Hill and Malik Hairston (sorta, looks like a basic one, but different), but then they turn around and give Louis Amundson (of the Suns) the Forehead of Doom cyberface. It's like they made a couple attempts at new cyberfaces, got bored and went off to play NBA Live 09 a bit, came back and just put the rest of the players in with the most idiotic cyberfaces they could manage. Luckily, nobody has Syphilis Face yet.

How can you guys not even mention the improvement in game play! It's no longer lagging. We used to get a lag on cpu first free throw, at the beginning of the game, duing quarter, during break/time, and when the camera zooms out. There is no longer any lag! The game menu and sub menu runs smoothly! That's the beggist improvement!

That's stupid that we can't back down players anymore. Backing down player is a component of basketball.

You can still back down your defender. Just work with the button and left stick. When the animation stops, do it again. A successful move depends on your defender more than ever. Some slim centers cannot do it well while bulky ones or a center vs. a guard works.

Just played my first game post patch and yea, I don't see it

Image

LBJ took the ball up the court more than normal, offense would start and usually finish with either a fancy pass or a shot from him

he was the only player to really attack my D

he sat for most of the 2nd and all of the 4th quarter

still a wicked fun game, but I dont see any issues with those stats (besides me losing) with what you were talking about.

Sliders: Default, except for dunk in traffic for both CPU and User is at 100
Pro Difficulty
4 minute quarters

everything else is default.
Opinions are my own.

My bad, after playing a couple of FULL games, superstars tend to take up the most shots EVENTUALLY. Before I was just fooling around and was just playing up to the first quarter of games but I guess you have to play the full game to see the superstars.

Right now I'm just playing around with the Coaching Profiles and more specifically the Defensive Pressure slider so that I can see more mid-range shots taken by the CPU team, will update u guys later

Ok, it is a real lack of backing down. I cannot back down with Ilgauskas or Ben Wallace. They just stand there and do nothing...just to take one step back. And Ilgauskas always gets whistled for some strange five seconds with back to the basket or something like that.

I want to play without those dozens of annoying things!
