Top Ten Wishes for 2010

The more detailed our feedback for the development team, the more informative we can be as to what we like about the game, don't like about the game and would like to see in the game. We'll be doing the normal Wishlist and supplementary article as usual but I thought we could also compile a list of the top ten most pressing things we'd like to see (or in some cases, like to see fixed) in NBA Live 2010. Feel free to agree with/re-post other's ideas if you feel the same way, that way we can get an overall picture of what we want most and compile a proper Top Ten.

My top ten Wishes (based on the Xbox 360 version and also intended for a PC version):

1. A PC version, ported from the Xbox 360/Playstation 3 version. I think the release of NBA 2K9 for the PC and the enthusiastic reception is an indication that the PC market is certainly alive and well and eager for a game equivalent to the ones being released on the latest generation of consoles.
   
   
2. Continue to tweak the simulated stats in Dynasty Mode. NBA Live 09 was actually pretty good in this regard, probably the best game since the concept of target statistics ("Dstats") was abandoned in NBA Live 2004 and player performance solely governed by the ratings. A few players do seem to average more points per game than they should however but scoring averages on the whole are pretty good. Rebounding, assists, blocks and steals are greatly improved but the range is still a bit lower than it should be; steals, blocks and rebounds in particular could stand to have the league leader average 2-3 more per game. Some point guards also rack up a few too many assists as Derek Fisher sometimes leads the league.
   
   
3. Clean up issues with players stepping out of bounds or back across half-court. One of those things that you can kind of put up with when you get away with it but you hate to see anyone else or the CPU do it. It should be cleaned up though as it's frustrating to force a player to step out of bounds or go over-and-back and not have it called and of course, defeats the purpose of having those calls in the game. Perhaps bring back the "Boundary Force Field" slider if players want to make it more difficult to get called for those infractions but it's something that needs a bit of tweaking.
   
   
4. Bring back the traditional Reorder Roster menu in Dynasty Mode, like the one used when editing the rosters from the main menu. The player rotation feature is nice and all but it's really cumbersome when you're trying to do something as simple as change your starting lineup or change the order of your bench. In fact, it's downright terrible for that purpose. As far as the little things go, that's one of my biggest complaints. By all means keep the rotation menu but let us reorder the rosters the old fashioned, easier way.
   
   
5. Add a full custom team feature, similar to the one in NBA Live 2000. Ideally, the available artwork for custom teams should be generic basketball-themed art that could lend itself to any custom team no matter what it's called (rather than some of the designs used back in the day). If it's good enough for the Oklahoma City Thunder, it'll work for a custom team in NBA Live 2010.
   
   
6. Add the ability to save games in progress. With the hard drive space available on the PC and now the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, in-game saves would be a tremendous aid to people who want to play twelve minute quarters but for one reason or another have to pause and leave the game for an extended period of time.
   
   
7. Make further expansions to Dynasty Mode. By that, I mean the ability to hire and fire head coaches (who would have their own ratings and impact on their teams), player roles and in-depth owner/manager functions including financial duties and the like. As with the other aspects of the "push" Dynasty approach, there should be an option to automate tasks. It would also be helpful if we could enter the Academy more frequently to train or at least run a five-on-five scrimmage after a trade, with a limit on how much development is possible within a week/month/season to ensure players can't be trained up to 99 overall too easily. The ability to select a 29, 58 or 82 game season and control multiple teams in Dynasty Mode would also be very popular.
   
   
8. Bring back Playoffs Mode. That way we can setup a Playoffs to play through without having to play or sim through a season first, something that's reasonably popular around the time of the real NBA Playoffs. It also greatly helps out websites who want to do Playoff sim articles.
   
   
9. Balance the effectiveness of Lockdown Defense. Lockdown Defense works quite well in NBA Live 09 but sometimes it's a bit too effective in the hands of the CPU who seem to recover a bit too quickly. It's great that Quick Strike can't be over exploited but it does mean that some really cool and well-timed moves are negated by the CPU managing to catch up when they've been beaten. It should definitely remain effective though, on the whole NBA Live 09 plays a better defensive game thanks to the presence of Lockdown Defense.
   
   
10. Better TV Style Presentation. The broadcast style camera angles are good but the overlays for the starting five and so forth could be improved and made to closer resemble a TV broadcast (ESPN I guess, given the license). The NBA Live 365 branding makes sense in 09 being such a big feature but kind of takes you out of the experience. It would also help if the text was a little bigger as it's sometimes difficult to read, particularly in the boxscores and on stats menus.

10. Crisper Passes. Lob Passes GONE PLEASE
9. Better, Liver Crowd Animations. And Reaction To BIG PLAYS. And Actually Follows Game
8. Better Half-time presentation. Fix The Camera Bug. It Like To Move On its Own Sometimes
7. Change The Dunking Sound to "Play Realistic"
6. More Falling Down Animations, That Can Lead To Injury
5. Reliable Dribble Controls. Control stick should determine where u go 1st
4. Put some WEIGHT on the Ball. Ball Seems Plastic
3. Get Rid Of Warping
2. DEFENSE. Better Close Out, More Effective Help D. Closing the Lanes.
1. Players Not Moving Like Robots, SMOOTH GAMEPLAY.

For PS3

1.
the option to have a 28 or 54 games season on dynasty mode and season (takes to long to play a 82 game seaon)

A be a pro mode which goes for a career lenght or atleast a season whith real live situations like going to practice, having a agent, trying out for your country for fifa,

3.
WAY more i depth pre-game and half-time reports.

4.
Make-a-franchise mode? kind of like a dynasty mode where u can create your stadium, logo, team uniform at the start and start off with certain (not to much) amount of money to sign a team some good free agents or ask teams for a player for some money or somthing then sign your coaches around the lines of that? then basicly its like dynasty mode for the rest.

5.
in game situation where the players might get a technical foul? or maybe get in a bit of push n' shove with the oppisition or maybe trash talk a little

6.
realistic injury rate in dynasty mode EXAMPLE. half the nba will be injured after the first couple games!

7.
have a place in the menu to veiw players go 2 moves like live 08

8.
Better Celebration when u win a championship.

9.
Better looking default rookies in dynasty mode

10.
the players could make shots or layups of the backbourd!

Unsportsmanlike technicals/fights are never going to happen as the NBA won't allow them. Given how image conscious they are their stance probably won't change anytime soon.

1. Better Passing Animations - When your on a fastbreak and you pass the player slows down to the point where the defence can easily catch up, and as someone mentioned before too many lob passes. Instead of a chest pass when your team mate is right infront of you how about a handoff, and when your moving the ball around there should be hard chest passes not soft bounce passes.

2. Better Moves Towards The Rim - When someone like LeBron James drives he should be able to completely destroy anyone under the rim... instead you get some weird quadruple pump layup. Also players like Kevin Garnett, Amare Stoudemire, or Dwight should be able to get more air on their dunks as their more athletic and shouldn't be doing dunks where they barely get off the floor just because their big.

3.Useful Crossover Moves - Their should be a less variety of crossover moves but they should be made more efficient and useful. I don't know exactly how to explain it but they should be able to make a player like Chris Paul or Deron Williams more explosive and deadly.

4.Better D - Players shouldn't be able to make 4 spin moves and end up in front of the rim. Enough Said

5.Crisper Off Ball Animations - Everyone should be doing something whether its holding your arm out to make sure you have your man within distance, fighting down low, or chasing people off screens. They should be made a lot more smooth to make things more realistic

6.More Emotion / Momentum Shifts - It doesn't matter how good of a team you are if the momentums on your side your close to being unstoppable and that should play more of a roll in how the team plays on court. There should also be more emotion like if a player hits a big shot he tries getting the crowd pumped or if a player takes a bad foul hes really mad and gets benched or something.

7."Lighter" Players - Everything feels heavy in the sense that when someone tries to make a block its like there hopping off the floor or when someone gets a rebound they get up a couple inches to bring it down. Players should be able to get up a bit more

8. Enhanced Dynasty / Be A Pro - Just add more stuff to do

9. Bring Back MJ

10. Keep the beautiful Live graphics, just try to make gameplay as close to 2k as possible and add more stuff

Lol I ran out of things to say after 8 so yea...

Too late but thanks all the same. In regards to bringing Michael Jordan back, I couldn't agree more but that decision depends on securing likeness rights for MJ and other legendary players. Without coming to an agreement with those players, EA can't include them in the game.

here are my top ten


1) Draft List- I would love to be able to see a draft list from season 1 to season 25 granted you ever get that far of who was drafted where. I feel there would be the harddrive for it


2) even better generated rookies- would love to see some really incredible centers in the draft who are skilled in a lot of categories. Not only that maybe even listed which generated have been to the allstar game and how often.

3) More advanced scouting- would like to see more listed about a player than strength is off rebounding, weakness is dunking.

4) Talking about generated rookies- having announcing talking about rookies especially superstar

5) Players scoring vs certain team- for example you could have Dwyane Wade and show how well he scores vs a certain team

6) saving during a game- I have wanted this feature for a long time and thinks it could be implated back into the game

7) PC Version- I want to see a PC version of NBA Live 2010.

8) Multiplayer Dynasty- I think Live needs this to keep up with 2K series

9) Highlights- I would like to see like an ESPN highlights of the games of the day. OF course you could skip over it if you like

10) Contracts- 10 Day Contracts, 30 Day Contract

11) D- League- I would love to see an option of sending a player who isn't performing well down to the D-League and can call someone up.

My Nba Live 2010 wishlisht

1.Improved player graphics.

2.improved, smoother animations(including some signature anim., Nashs finger licking,KG smacking the floor and beating the chest , lebrons chalk throw,etc)

3.more signature shots/dunks/layups

4.better crowd reactions and involvement

5.A new passing system...either an improved touch passing system or options tho modify passes (EX: tap pas button-light pass hold button-harder pass hold lt with pass bounce pass rt lead pas)

6.More play options via playbook

7.improved Online Leagues...take a page from 2K 's...there online leagues generate a serious loyal fanbase of sim ballers and IMO are a bg reason of its success

8.a highlight maker simialr to 2k's reelmaker...ability to view every basket frm the entire game and save it and edit it 2 create highights n upload them to EA.com

9.some type of defensive lock down system

10.impove the Post up option...add more post up moves (hooks,fadeaways,up and unders,etc)

lebrons chalk throw

That would be amazing.

Reading over this list... I had forgotten how bad things had gotten for Live. Ugh. Some of those things just made me go "Huh? What? They seriously don't have that??" I've just gotten so accustomed to what is in the 2k games after these past 2-3 years.
