Saints Row 2 PC

Postby imefimef on Sun Jan 04, 2009 6:24 am

Does anybody know when Saints Row 2 for PC is coming out? I've seen Jan 1, 5 and6 as release dates from credible video game websites, but i can't find anybody who has it, can anyone confirm this and if it already came out, has anyone actually played it.

Everyone who liked the PS2 GTA games should play this, it's freaking awesome and even better than those were.

Should be out on Tuesday.

I've played the Xbox 360 version. It's alright, couldn't really get into it though.

i like the part of customizable characters, i just hope it doesn't have repetitive game play, because thats what kept me playing SA , cuz even though the story line was really long, they kept switching the missions up so it didn't get too boring

Its out now. Probably like 24 h ago. Steam delayed due some late technical issues. Anyway many people say its a failport just like GTA IV, suffering from performance issues on high-end rigs.

Damn, Saints row was the last chance since I cant play GTa on my pc.. and I´ve no consoles.
Anyone tried it yet (on PC)

It's getting some pretty bad reviews so far, it seems to be even less optimized for PC than GTA IV. Definitely not interested in that one.

It runs just about the same as the 360 version, except it looks waaaaaay better. Turning on AA seems to kill it but I wasn't noticing too much aliasing even at 1280x720 on my 1680x1050 monitor.

It theoretically should run more smoothly but it's absolutely playable.

What about driving around? Most people say when driving around corners there´ll be a frame drop.
And what are your specs?

A friend now has it now. His specs: AMD Athlon 64 3800+ (2.41 GHZ) 1GB RAM Ati x1600 256 MB
Its nearly unplayable for him. 17 fps in the 1st mission. Driving and the boat shooting he did with 8 fps.

That's how I felt when I played it on the 360, though my opinion of San Andreas is much more favourable.

It's not as if you can't change graphical options in PC games...so just saying it runs like crap isn't very meaningful.

Don't know what's wrong with the driving - it's fairly unrealistic like the old GTA games which is not a bad thing, the handbrake is awesome for making 90 degree turns, and I've never had any problems with the driving camera.

I didn't mind the lack of realism, I'm a fan of the games built around the GTA3 engine. The steering felt a bit erratic to me, though maybe I was just expecting more given GTAIV's approach. For the most part though, I just didn't get caught up with that game. Considering how I didn't get into GTAIV as much as I thought I might, maybe I'm just tiring of the genre a bit.

sr2 is not worth it.. San Andreas is still better.

Now i've played it..
OMG, how can you make this bad handling, i think i could make better. Pres left , turn around 90 and still drive at full speed.
Not worth your money. And if there is some driving missions - your fucked.
Never playing Saints Row 2 again

You find no value in a game with unrealistic driving physics, but you enjoyed San Andreas? I don't get it.

They may both have unrealistic driving physics but their driving physics are not quite the same. Driving in Saints Row 2 reminded me more of The Simpsons Hit 'n' Run; as far as unrealistic driving physics go I'd still give it to San Andreas and other games in the series based on the GTA3 engine as I always felt like I was in control but not so much with Saints Row 2. Maybe it's just what I'm used to, but that's how it felt to me.

I find the driving to be completely responsive at all times, and with the handbrake I can make ridiculously precise turns without sacrificing very much speed. I never once felt out of control unless I was driving something really tall and wobbly, or when I was towing a car.

Fair enough, I can only speak from my own experiences. Like I said, it could be just what I'm used to but I just couldn't get into Saints Row 2. That doesn't make it a bad game, just not the game for me.

Dude, San Andreas has more realistic handling than sr2 (for me at least). Maybe driving was even worse in sr2 because of than camera motion. When you go backwards you dont understand where you are going. In the first mission i failed 10 times in one spot where you had to drive trough gates, i couldn't do that, i was getting my self in to the wall. And then i failed when you had to jump on a ramp again at least 5 times i was getting in wrong way.
Maybe the storyline is not so bad, but the game is bad because of its driving. I can't stand it.

awwwww, i just got it and its so gey
even though i turn all te settings down to the lowest, i still get about 5fps( my PC isn't that bad i run 2K9 pretty well and COD 4 pretty well)
and i still tried to play it like that and it wuz kinda cool, and to quote nxt warrior, it was fun(kinda) till i got into a car, so i just quit and will delete in a short while, pretty disappointing though casue since last year i was looking forward to getting it.

btw i heard driver parralell lines was good, is it like GTA SA, and is there gameplay aside driving?
