game choppiness on pc?

i don't have the game yet, but i read a review on gamespy that says the pc version has choppy gameplay even when they used a pentium 4 2.56mhz system with a good video card. it mentions that you have to turn a lot of the detail down to medium or slower to produce smooth gameplay.

anybody having that problem? i have windows xp, 1.0mhz amd thunderbird cpu, 256k ram, and a geforce 3 ti500 video card

Ur Pushing it abit with those specs (its MB not K) As always though there are plenty of Graphics option 4 u 2 play with, im sure u will find the right settings.

thanks for the reply and correction. have you had any problems with choppiness when you turn all of the detail settings to their highest?

i get smooth gameplay at da highest default resolution 12xx one
with minimal detail..
i'm on a 1.4ghz tbird, 256mb ddr sdram, gf2 gts 32mb
some might like playin on 1024x768 with a little bit higher detail than minimal

I can run the game at maximum resolution, maximum detail on my new PC. My specs are: P4 2.66 GHz, 1 GB RAM, GeForce Ti4200 64 MB video card. If you have a good computer, it shouldn't be choppy.

I run the game with a ATI Radeon 9800 XT and I still get choppy gameplay with all the settings on Maximum.

i can play it at max details:

P4 3Ghz
1GB RAM 400 Mhz
Ati Radeon 9800 128 MB.

My old P4 2.4, 768MB RAM with a GeForce 4 Ti 4200 64 MB couldn't play 2003 at max. Looks like they've fixed some things this year

the way it sounds, i'm going to have to spend $400-$500 on a video card, $300 for a pentium 4 3.x or xp 3200 cpu, $140 on a dual ddr mb, and another $400 on ram just a get the game to look and play like it's supposed to

I play nba live on my xbox and there is a fps slowdown. That goes for the other consoles also. Probably there's a glitch in the game.

d4n88 - i figured i would get some smart-ass comments about me whining or something like that when i made the original post - the main reason i made that comment is: if people are seeing some choppiness with pentium 4 cpus of 3.0ghz or over, radeon 9800 video cards, and 1gb of ram, then i know that my 1.0gb athlon thunderbird cpu, geforce3 ti 500 video card, and 512mb ram doesn't cut it for optimum viewing and performance

Sorry, dude. Didn't mean anything by it. I'm merely discouraged by the fact that such cutting-edge technology still wouldn't make a game like Live--which isn't as graphically intense as the next-gen FPS's out there--run smoothly.

d4n88 apology accepted. that's why i'm still reluctant to buy the game. if i buy the game and have to run everything in medium to low detail, i've defeated the main reason for buying the game. i plan to upgrade fairly soon anyway, but i was hoping not to until late spring or so.

I'm running on a P4 2.6Ghz, nVidia GeForce FX 5200 128MB and the game seems to run well, I suppose. The framerate seems decent, and, to me at least, the game runs smoothly as well.

I'm running with the players, bench, arena, texture, and lightings at HIGH while shadows are LOW. This is at 1024x768 with BILINEAR and Triple Buffer on. It's decent, like I said.

Although when I can I'd like to get the Radeon 9600XT but for now it's a good game, anyhow.

but some reason its running kind of clumpy........during game play it is actually pretty good its just during the intro of the game when the team's records come in it skips a lot....does anybody know how to solve this? or is my computer just obsolete? i even tried to lower the resolution all the way to the lowest but it stil runs exactly the same....soo if anybody could help that'd be great!!!

Sounds like a disk access problem. Could be because either you hd hasn't been defrag'd for a long time, or simply cuz you only have 256mb of ram.
Your system should be fine overall.

i got a 2.4 ghz machine with a geforce 4 ti 42000 and im runnin smooth as hell, i have a few rough spots here and there but for the most part the game runs great, unlike last year i can run the resolution past 1024

glad to get your opinions guys - it will really help. because of my lcd monitor, i have to use 1280 x 1024 resolution - that's another reason i'm concerned
