The New Jersey Nets opened up their 2005/2006 campaign against #1 pick Andrew Bogut and the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Nets were expecting a tough game with the Bucks who had just come off a 4 point loss the night before to the 76ers. Andrew Bogut and Michael Redd started the Bucks off with a 10-3 run early in the 1st quarter. Vince Carter showed Bogut his leaping ability that made him a slam dunk contest winner when he served up a big facial for the Rookie. The Nets closed the quarter with a 8-2 run but found them selves trailing at the quarter when Bogut tipped in a T.J. Ford miss as time expired
Welcome To the NBA Rookie
Milwaukee opened the 2nd quarter with Toni Kukoc scoring 8 of the Bucks 14 points including 6 straight points, Antoine Wright making his pro Debut could not have asked for a better shot, Jason Kidd found Wright wide open at the 3 point line and Wright sunk it to bring the deficit to 2 mid 2nd quarter. Richard Jefferson had a terrible half going 0-6 with 2 turnovers, Jefferson’s missed shot followed by a T.J. Ford turnover allowed the Nets to tie the game with under 2 minutes remaining. Marc Jackson mad sure the Nets went into the half with the lead when fed Vince Carter for a 3 and then pulled down one of his 7 rebounds and raced up court only for Carter to return the favor and the nets found them selves up at the break 54-49
Dream Start
Half Time Heroes
Nenad Kristic went off in the 3rd quarter scoring all 12 of his points as well as recording 3 blocks. But it wasn’t enough to stop the Bucks from staging a comeback, Bogut had 14 points in the quarter and Maurice Williams had 5 points and 6 assists, this helped the Bucks to a 81-80 lead heading into the final period.
The 4th quarter saw 6 lead changes and also saw the Bucks up 9 points late in the quarter. Jason Kidd who had 2 points in the game up until the 4th quarter, when he went off for 14 points and 6 assists. Jamal Magloire showed Antoine Wright that in the NBA you have to take hard to the hoop when he swatted away his lay up attempt with 2 minutes remaining in the game. Lamond Murray scored what turned out to be the game winner when he hit a 18 footer over Redd. Jason Kidd put the game beyond doubt when with 20 seconds remaining and the Bucks down by 2 he stole the ball and found Vince Carter for the Alley-oop.

New Jersey were back home tonight to face off against the 1-1 Chicago Bulls.
The Nets started out the 1st quarter shooting 0-6 while the Bulls hit 3 straight jumpers to jump out to a 6-0 lead early in the 1st, Richard Jefferson who has had a disappointing start to the season finally got into a rhythm and went 3-3 in the quarter including a jumper as time expired to tie the game at 19 heading into the 2nd quarter
The Nets shut down the Bulls in the second quarter allowing only 11 points while forcing the Bulls to shoot 12% from the floor. Vince Carter who had a quiet 1st quarter scored 6 of his 20 points in the quarter including a Michael Jordan imitation. Richard Jefferson also tried his own MJ imitation as the Nets took a 41-31 lead into the break.

I Wunna Be i Wunna Be Like Mike!!!
Chris Duhon was 0-6 in the 1st half but he opened the 2nd half 3-3 and 4 assists, Tim Thomas only attempted one shot in the 1st half but he opened the 2nd half 2-2 and 6 points but it still wasn’t enough as the Nets built on their lead to go into the final quarter 73-52.
Ben Gordon started the 4th quarter with his own Jordan Imitation, the Bulls found them selves down by 26 points mid 4th quarter and that’s when Tim Thomas stood up and so did Kirk Hinrich the two combined for 24 points including a 16-0 run. The nets and Bulls traded buckets until the final minutes of the game when Jason Kidd who has had a quiet season so far scored 8 of his 25 points to help preserve a nets win.
