The Orlando Magic suffered their second loss in this year’s preseason, getting defeated by New Orleans Hornets.
Though, It didn’t look that way at the beginning, when they took a strong 14 point lead, but ended the first one only with 5 point lead. This is the second time this season when Orlando starts the first quarter strongly and ends it poorly.
Hornets bring momentum in the second quarter for a strong start, taking the lead back. They controlled the flow of the game and were dominant at boards, but only till the middle of the quarter. Then Orlando came storming back. Mostly because of Dwight Howard. But the big guy collected his third and was forced to sit down. Then Hornets were able to score a little more points to win the quarter, but not enough to take the lead.
The third quarter, was the highlight of J.J Redick. The young rookie was completely dominant with his jumpshot against Hornets defense. He made all of the 7 shots he took in the third one(including two treys), collecting 16 points in the quarter. But Magic’s defense wasn’t good also. They let Bobby Jackson and some other Hornets’ key guys to easily get into paint and then score. Though, Orlando managed to win the quarter by one point for a fragile two point lead, heading into the deciding quarter.
Orlando Magic were trying to run away from their opponents at the beginning of the last period, but they didn’t manage to do that. Every time Magic made a field-goal, Hornets answered the same way. The game was going like that the whole quarter, but Hornets’ stunned everybody in the last minute. It was a tie with 43 seconds to go, when Chris Paul made his only trey of the night, giving Hornets and three-point lead. Then Magic answered with two points and 32 seconds to go. Magic’s Grant Hill stole the ball and was going for the two easy points, but David West managed to follow him and blocked him. Then Chris Paul netted two more points. And stole the ball quickly in the next possession putting in another two points and finishing Magic.

Well to bad, but it's only preseason, so I'm sure you're gonna do better in season.
The recaps are great, good luck with this!
Mon Apr 30, 2007 1:40 am
dont worry about the pics. you make up for it with the recaps. they're great! keep it up!

I think you should leave Clutch situations to Redick. Sure he's a rookie, but Live 07 has no idea..
Nice recap. Well the loss doesn't really matter. Cause it's the pre-season..

Ahh, Chris Paul was clutch!

Tough loss, but Redick seems to be somewhat of an X-factor for you. Good luck!

Brent Barry’s game-winning trey with 1.2 seconds left…

Magic-101
Spurs-102
The Orlando Magic suffered their third straight loss in the preseason, this time against San Antonio Spurs.
At the beginning Magic were playing even with the Spurs, losing the first quarter only by a single point. They were mainly led by Grant Hill who had 11 points in the first one. Though Magic weren’t so successful in the second at all. They struggled offensively and couldn’t defend Ginobili and Parker. Orlando lost the quarter by eight points for a nine point deficit, heading into the second half.
Spurs dominated Magic in the third one. Mostly with the help of Barry and Duncan. They couldn’t do anything offensively and were completely terrible defensively. They lost the third quarter by 11 points and were suffering a big twenty point deficit, entering the last quarter.
Spurs managed to increase their lead to 24 in the first minute of the fourth quarter, but after those points, it was a completely different story for the Orlando Magic. They Magic guys were storming offensively, lead by Howard, Nelson and Milicic, they managed to decrease the deficit strongly and were able to tie it 99:99 with 1:34 to go. No one scored in the left time until 0:20, when Kenyon Dooling was fouled. He made both free-throws for a two point lead. Magic thought they had the win in their hands, but then Brent Barry launched a trey at the other end and made it. He left 1,2 seconds for the Magic. Nelson took the potential game-winning shot, but missed.

it's only preseason... hopefully you'll improve during regular season
actually I'm quite sure of it since you need to get used to a team before you can really play great with it... Keep Your Head up

(of course you will)
btw very good recaps as usual keep it up

Shit, you've lost again, but at least you had very good opportunity to win. As Slizz said it's only preseason, but you should think about the win next game. I like some players' stats. Milicic getting 15 rebounds is sweat, Hedo playing well, and Redick had nice game against hornets. Keep it up

Nice bad - too bad all losses. But it's the pre-season and you can really get to know your team. Howard has been pretty quiet in this stretch. Only 16 Ppg.and 8 Rpg.
I think you'll go 2-2 in the next four games..
Good luck!
Tue May 01, 2007 8:25 pm
Gee bad start doesn't matter though because as everyone has sed about a million times it's only pre-season and you should be able to bounce back
WOW what a shot by Barry unlucky

sucks that you have lost 1st 4 games of the season

Again a loss. Seems like the Magic are a tough task. I mean it is no shame to loose to the Spurs. But 0-3 is not that good. I am sure you can turn things around soon ! Good luck !

About the Hawks

Howard was all-around dominant, finishing with 30 points, 16 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 blocks…

Hawks-95
The Orlando Magic won their first preseason game at home, against Atlanta Hawks.
Magic had a great start, especially Darko Milicic who scored all of Magic’s first ten points in the quarter. They extended the lead to 18, but Hawks stopped them at there and were able to erase the deficit to one single point, but then Magic got back offensively and defensively, adding more points to their lead and stopping Hawks.
Heading into the second quarter, Magic held a strong 7 point lead and dominated the second quarter completely, thanks to Dwight Howard and Darko Milicic. Magic outscored the Hawks by 14 points in the second quarter. They played such a great team-game, having 11 assists in the quarter, 33 in the game. Magic dominated defensively, getting 15 steals and 7 blocks.
Entering the second half, Magic were leading by a very strong 21 point lead. They were able to extend it to 28 at one moment in the third quarter, but Hawks downed it to 21 again, still Magic were able to win the quarter by a single point for a 22 point lead going into the decisive quarter.
Atlanta played their best game in the last quarter, but were able to just outscore Magic by a single point, that was surely not enough. Orlando took the big win and will be going to Atlanta for the next game.
