Let me start off by saying this is my first post on this board in more than 5 months. I had all but told the Live Series to go home b/c I thought Sega Sports (ESPN Basketball) was headed in the right direction. Having bought Live 2003 on PC last season, I had never been more dissapointed in an EA Sports game. I was wanting a simulation. What I got was crap.
Fast forward to last week. I had pre-ordered ESPN and got it the first day it came out. I played it for about 3 hours, and while it was not absolutely horrible, it left much to be desired. I mean, there were 4 plays in the entire playbook: Post up, three point, iso, and pick and roll. Each play had about 20 variations depending upon where you called it on the court, but the user has no idea what the players were going to do next.
So, having not had my b-ball fix properly fed, I ran down to Blockbuster and picked up Live 2004 for the PS2. And I must say, I was mightily impressed. The gameplay is the BEST of all time, even better than Live 2000. This game is so smooth and the game plays very similiar to real life NBA. The 10-man motion capture really paid off big-time. Though the players faces pale in comaprison to ESPN, the graphics are top-notch. I'm sure patchers out there can make better faces in due time. Anyways, I am eagerly anticipating the PC release for Live. I'm sure it will look and play just like the PS2 version. Guys, you will not be dissappointed. You will be blown away. This game is so fun and plays so well. EA really did it s homework and turned out a superb product. We all will play this game until our thumbs fall off.
