For some reason, this came to mind:
Anyway, my immediate reaction is to say it's going overboard, like changing the lyrics from "Baa Baa Black Sheep" to "Baa Baa Rainbow Sheep" on the premise that the latter is racist, even though there actually black sheep and it's an alliterative choice that works better for the nursery rhyme. I can kind of see where he's coming from, though I would never have interpreted Rudolph's glowing noise as an allegory for disabilities, it's presented as a magical power rather than a handicap. To me, the theme of the story has more to do with acceptance and not judging a book by its cover, I feel he's reading a bit too far into it.
That's not to say the other reindeer in the story aren't bullying Rudolph but that's the whole point of the tale (and other stories like The Ugly Duckling); they're portraying that kind of behaviour as folly. I'm all for addressing the issue of bullying and I think his intentions are good, but it seems to me he's misinterpreting the tone and message of the story.
