It's time for us to celebrate, to rejoice, to recognize and represent. To remember the dreams we had, to remember the history. Don't turn this thread into a racist joke thread, please.
Black History Month started out as just one week in 1926. African-American scholar Dr. Carter Godwin Woodson created Negro History Week to educate people about the important contributions that Africans and African Americans have made to the world. He chose February because that's when the former slave and abolitionist, Frederick Douglass, and the president who ended slavery, Abraham Lincoln, were both born. February became Black History Month in 1976.
Feel free to celebrate, rejoice, and pass on (preferably positive) African American facts!
