Finished my 2nd season

Another run-down:
We went on a bit of a rampage to end the season, going 12 - 5 - 3 in our last 20 games. Unfortunately though we lost the plot in the last 2, drawing with Lens and getting smashed by Paris. We could've finished as high as 5th but settled for 7th, which is still an improvement over last season... a massive improvement actually:
2005/06: 15 wins, 8 draws, 15 losses | 58 goals for, 55 goals against, +3 | 53 points
2006/07: 16 wins, 13 draws, 9 losses | 64 goals for, 45 goals against, +19 | 61 points
So if we had played like this last season we probably would've come 4th. A 61 point season is also the most the team has
ever had.
Champions League Final:
UEFA Cup Final:
Inter-Toto Cup Final/s:
And as usual, the Strasbourg Reserves/Under 18's dominated again:
Top 5 Players
STRASBOURG
Giorgio Chiellini
20 games, 0 goals, 0 assists, Average Rating: 7.24
Juventus would be kicking themselves for letting this guy go. I credit him almost entirely for our turnaround in form, without him we were really struggling on that left side of defense but Chiellini has come in and solidified it, also opening up space for the likes of Everton and Babel.
Alexandre Bonnet
22 games, 4 goals, 7 assists, 1 MoM, Average Rating: 7.23
The former Strasbourg Reserves star made the leap to the first team to cover for injuries and eventually became one of the best midfielders in the entire club. He's only 20 years old but the kind of performances he's been putting in will definitely see him playing for France eventually.
Everton
27 games, 1 goal, 8 assists, 3 MoM, Average Rating: 7.22
Tortured defenders all season and was rewarded for it:
Named in 2007 French First League XI of the Season
Named in 2007 French League One Stars Team of the Season
2007 French Players League One Player of the Season (3rd place)
And all of that for no more than 1.4 million pounds.
Ryan Babel
34 games, 21 goals, 13 assists, 6 MoM, Average Rating: 7.21
Amazing season from Babel who's still only 20 years old. After being poor in 2005/6 he really jumped out of the games and dominated the goal scoring for our team. God knows where we'd be without him, though sometimes has injury problems.
Noe Pamarot
38 games, 3 goals, 4 assists, 5 MoM, Average Rating: 7.16
When I signed him from Tottenham I wasn't expecting much, maybe a decent back-up I could depend on. Instead I got the cornerstone of our defense, and a player who hasn't had a bad game in the entire time he's been with the team.
Future Transfers
Players In:
Lelo Mbele, 19 years old, Republic of Congo, ST
He's just a throw in for another transfer. Looks pretty good, if he improves, great, if he doesn't, who cares.
Players Out:
Arthur Boka to Lens for 1.3 million
Salim Arrache to Pachuca for 2.3 million
Yves Deroff to Al Rayyan (QAT) on a free transfer
Abel Mphela to Orlando Pirates on a free transfer
Omer Peretz to B. Jerusalem for 1 million
Jean-Christophe Devaux to Falkirk on a free transfer
Julien Gorius to Le Mans for 1.1 million
Talla N'Diaye to Lens for 500k
Gaetan Krebs to Reims for 1 million
Amara Diane to either Elfsborg, Nacional da Madeira or AGF for 775k
I decided to do a clean out and get rid of some of the guys I never use. Gaetan Krebs was the hardest to sell, but he's not developing at the same rate as his play (goal scoring machine in the reserves) and I have another left winger by the name of Guillaume Clinckemaille who's only 16 years old but had 12 assists in 20 games for the Under 18's, average rating of 7.40. Gorius was another hard one to sell but with Bonnet developing so rapidly I didn't need him anymore. All together I stand to gain around 7 million which is pretty good.
I'm not going to go out and make a bunch of signings in this off season. I'll have around 12 million to spend, but the average age of first team regulars for my team is 21.8 so I'd rather keep that group together and let them improve. I'll rely on call-ups from the Reserves and Under 18's, but I might spend 4-5 million on a goalkeeper. At the moment my #1 choice would be Timo Hildebrand. He's a Germany international but his team was just relegated so I like my chances of picking him up. I'm also looking for a midfielder, someone like Ale who can play a Makelele-esque holding role. Or I'll just sign Makelele, we'll see.
Transfer Targets
Ivan Pelizzoli (GK) 26 years old, Reggina, 1.8 million
- Former Italy international who was on his way to becoming a superstar at AS Roma until injury hit.
Morgan De Sanctis (GK) 30 years old, Udinese, 3.5 million
- Currently the #2 goalkeeper in Italy, his team was just relegated so I think I'm in with a shot.
Timo Hildebrand (GK) 28 years old, Stuttgart, 3.1 million
- Probably the 2nd best German goalkeeper on form, but his awful team was relegated so again I think I can get him.
Hector Fabian Carini (GK) 27 years old, IFK Goteborg, 575k
- Moved from Inter Milan to this small team, no idea why but he's cheap and I could get him quite easily if I tried.
The Defensive Midfielders:
Christian Ledesma (DM) 24 years old, Leece, 5.5 million
Arnold Mvuemba (DM) 22 years old, Rennes, 2.6 million
Didier Zokora (DM) 26 years old, St. Etienne, 3.9 million
Yaya Toure (DM) 24 years old, Olympiakos, 1.5 million
Jean II Makoun (DM) 23 years old, Lille, 2.5 million
Papa Bouba Diop (DM) 29 years old, Fulham, 3.4 million
Freddy Guarin (DM), 20 years old, Stuttgart, 3.3 million
Damiano Zenoni (DM) 30 years old, Udinese, 2.9 million
Guess we'll see what happens, I'd rather one of the younger guys but if I have to take a Zenoni or Diop I won't be too unhappy.
Edit: Awesome, we've got a place in the Inter-Toto Cup. That means we can get through to the UEFA Cup
