There is a new book out called Kill!Kill!Kill!, written by Jimmy Massey an american who served in the MiddleEast. American publishers won't publish his book so he found a french publisher and is still looking for other ones. He was on the Dutch TV Network doing an interview. He sat there talking to the interviewer talking about the warcrimes he committed (he didnt get punished), he killed several (innocent civilians). He blames the US-gov for the atrocities happening there. The strongest point he made during the interview: 'If I could ask Bush just one question, when a soldier kills a civilian, how can you not expect the people to think 'if they kill one of us, we will kill 100 of them' and turn into a rebel.' (something along the lines of that)

the interview i saw was quite remarkable, he was explaining about his time in the Middle East, admitting to committing warcrimes, talking about how he felt when he killed people who turned out to be innocent. At one point he explains he felt euforic after his first kill. several people were coming towards the troops and they started shooting, aiming at their heads. These were unarmed civilians. He shot somebody through the head and felt euforic, because now he was a real marine. 'Because you're not a real marine until you have shed blood'.
His story brings quite a different perspective to what is really going on there, the number of warcrimes, the circumstances. It also underlines that people, under certain circumstances, will act the way he acted and do the most grueling things, they would never think about doing ordinarily. Just makes you wonder if you yourself would also commit crimes, if you were trained for years to kill in the army, and were then put into a war situation. In any case I am glad I'm not a soldier.
on a side note. How much does it take for a president (BUSH) to step down? It's controversy after controversy, the pressure must be mounting for him now.
- lying to the world about having solid evidence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.
- poor response and preparation for Katrina
- the latest: Libby stepping down (a repercussion of his criticism on the administration and the iraq-war)
- stories of US soldiers committing warcrimes (there are plenty vids on the net)
- 2000 US soldiers killed so far (and how many with ruined lives we dont know)
- Unable to find Bin Laden
the list goes on and on
