Greece

Since some of the greatest NLSC members in history were Greek, there's this awesome Greek steak house (om nom nom nom) in East Lansing we used to go to all the time, and Greek Town in Detroit is maybe the best part of Detroit, let's talk bout the Greece crisis.

Oh, there's also the fact that the rest of Europe along with the United States gets to go through this in the next decade which should be exciting.

If you're unaware, here's the facts:

Short Version:
Socialism doesn't work, especially if you don't make the majority of your country pay taxes.

Long Version:
Basically Greece has spent the last few decades spending more money they don't have. Then the "stimulated" financial house of cards collapsed and it all went to hell, now they're begging the rest of the world (who is in the same situation) to bail them out. And at some point it will all implode upon itself.

We tried it in Greece and it failed. Next comes Spain, Portugal, and California. Good times!

Thankfully we'll keep trying collectivism and people in this very thread may advocate it despite its abject failure!

I don't really know much about Greece, other than tiny bit of their history(myth and how they sucked against Hannibal), food that I enjoy occassionaly with a date, and last but most, Mike Zambidis.

Yes, well if you don't mind riots and you don't work in a bank, perhaps: http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/2010 ... isis_N.htm

The whole EU was set up to support other countries in these times and all, and I get that...I get the EU can't not help them out (as much as I'd like them not to) but what happens when Spain needs a cashinjection? 110 billion is going to Greece already, Spain will need a ton more.

That's our tax money that's going to them. Kinda...not cool. Fine, Holland is "only" sending 5 and Germany is way up there with 22, but still...that's a whole lot of cash damn it. :x

That's the major problem, Greece entered the EU and everyone basically knew they could never meet the standards (and they didn't), yet it was allowed. Then here we are, and now the countries who aren't completely ruining themselves have to bail out those who do. The EU might get away with kicking out Greece while taking care of the debts, since the debts are in German and French banks. But then you have Spain, and Portugal, and Italy, and then the UK and so on and so forth.

Same thing is happening in California and New York and New Jersey in the U.S. And the federal government as a whole.

It's madness. Yet, in the case of the United States we aren't addressing it, we're doubling down.

The West is determined to do everything it can to destroy itself in the name of maintaining its Ponzi Schemes.

We all managed to ignore this for years but then we got an actual correction which exposed the whole deal. And the solution being proposed is just ignoring it and doing more of the same.
