Well, they were just 5-5 in the ten games between Bynum getting injured and Gasol coming over. 27-9 after Gasol trade. Not that any of this means anything.
Last year was the year that Kobe was not a ball hog, he actually deferred to his teammates instead of trying to do it himself. Where were you guys last season?
It never showed up in his numbers. His usage in 2006-07 is basically the same as it is in 2007-08. Kobe was never holding the team back with his "ball hogging" (especially since he was their best offensive player efficiency wise) the team was holding itself back by not having good players. Then it got two other all-star caliber players to pair with Kobe and they suddenly dominate the West.
Season | Usg% | Ast% | %Ast'd | %F10 | %F10Ast'd |
2005-06 | 38.7 | 24.1 | 44% | 39% | 43% |
2006-07 | 33.6 | 25.5 | 40% | 39% | 38% |
2007-08 | 31.4 | 23.9 | 40% | 39% | 45% |
2008-09 | 32.2 | 23.8 | 37% | 37% | 39% |
%Ast'd = % of baskets assisted
%F10 = % of shots taken in the first ten seconds of the clock
I kinda like 2004-05 too, 28.5% ast% a career high, only 32% of attempts in first ten, by far his lowest since the Lakers last title. (Most years he's right around that 39-40%.)
