2K14... I just can not enjoy this game. And believe me, I tried. I want to like it and there are many things that are great about 2K14. Like better blocks, overall more fluent experience, adjusting your release timing (which is HUGE, imho), etc...
BUT - I just can't lose! I am 9-0 in my latest association and none of the games has even been close so far. The thing is, I have already lowered my shooting sliders to the point where I would miss a reasonable percentage of open shots. The real problem is that EVERY FUCKING SHOT IS AN OPEN SHOT!!! Seriously, what is this shit? I'm hitting .55 from three with Shawn Marion for god's sake! Jae Crowder shoots even better at .60!!! Only because those slackers won't contest any shots. My 3Pt-slider is at 41 at the moment at all-star difficulty. How can I get the CPU to play decent D on me? I try to slow the game down, running plays, playing smart, because that's what I've been doing for years. But I still end up with scores of 110+ every single game on 12minute quarters. But I just can't play this game on a higher difficulty setting, because then I feel stupid with the CPU ballhandler bullying his way inside way too often. Stopping him is not the issue, but only with steals, shot contests or blocks, not by forcing him to pass. Damn bastard won't give up the ball 8 out of 10 times! I've never been one to mess with sliders to the extreme, but is there any way to combat this? And I don't want to have to lower the sliders any further, because then I will miss open jumpers at a rate which is not acceptable for me. I won't cripple my offense just because the CPU can't defend properly.
Also, fatigue is even more fucked up than in previous years. After about two minutes, Dirk and Dalembert will be at ~75 stamina, while Monta and Harris are at 95. This was an issue before, but never so obviously wrong. Also, it can't really be countered by just lowering fatigue rate or giving the stamina slider a boost. Because then Ellis can play the whole game without ever going below 90. It wouldn't even be so bad if the players regained stamina at a faster rate. But playing a guy for 3 minutes and then having to bench him for the rest of the first quarter only for him to be back at ~95 at the start of the second is beyond reason. Granted, this is without timeouts. But even those don't seem to work consistently. Sometimes, a player will recover for 5-7 stamina, sometimes only 1 or 2. Why? WHY??? *shakes fist*
The new controls are not for everyone, including me. But damn your eyes, 2K!!! You can't just implement two control schemes for convenience and skip important stuff like alley-oop plays. Its lazy dumbassery like that which is really consistent in this series, and it just rubs me the wrong way.
I'm sad now.
