Iverson to Detroit for Billups,McDyess

Like real basketball, as well as basketball video games? Talk about the NBA, NCAA, and other professional and amateur basketball leagues here.

I wonder what number Iverson will wear... Will praised Stuckey give his number up? (perhaps for one seaon) Or will Allen wear a different number for the first time in his career?

(cfr. Billups with n° 1 too)

(Loving this trade) Never thought Iverson fitted in Denver. Indeed Jackal could be the baby-colors...

Oh my god  I never expected this. Maybe its because I have not been thoroughly checking NBA.com for a couple of days but there was no warning, trade rumor, anything... Iverson finally goes to Detroit (refering to when Larry Brown almost traded Iverson to Detroit like, 8 years ago).

There was no rumour until it happened. Talks only started about it on last Thursday morning...

Good trade for both teams....Billups makes more sense in Denver, & I hope they keep Dice as they need him....as for Pistons, worth the roll of the dice....it it fails, Iverson's contract is off your cap & Stuckey is your starting PG next year....nice work by both GM's (Y)

Hold the phone.. before we anoint Dumars GM of the year can we please recall that he passed on D Wade, Chris Bosh and Melo to draft....wait for it...DARKO!!! IMO all he is doing is trying to make up for the biggest blown draft pick since Sam Bowie was drafted ahead of Jordan. If I were Detroit I would have fired his ass a long time ago, 6 straight trips to the East finals and only one championship??? Detroit deserves better than Me Myself and Iverson.

But the 2003 Draft is not relevant to this year's GM of the Year Award, which recognises the efforts of GMs from this offseason/season only. As for firing him over the Pistons' Playoff results over the past six years, I strongly disagree. Six years a contender getting to the Conference Finals, yielding two NBA Finals appearances and a championship is by no means a pathetic effort. Six straight lottery years or six first round exits, that's cause for concern that the team isn't going anywhere.

This trade is a madness, a mistake. How could give Iverson for such players? I still can't get over after the shock :-o

Billups isn't the same player Denver parted with all those years ago, the Nuggets are getting a quality player in return. Unfortunately, McDyess isn't the same player he was in Denver all those years ago.

Iverson will wear number 1, looks like Stuckey was playing hard ball and didnt give it up. I'm excited to see both teams play but more importantly im lookin forward to how Melo can return to those pre-iverson numbers. Over 30ppg.

He should have gone with #95: the year he was Big East Rookie of the Year, Big East Defensive Player of the Year and the minimum number of games the Pistons can play from here on out to win the 2009 championship. Also, if the John Paxson Referee Theory holds true, he'll get fewer fouls called on him.

On a less absurd note, Stuckey probably figures he's going to be around in Detroit longer so there's little point in giving up #3, even for a multi-time All-Star.

Allen Iverson passing on family values:

A.I.: son, what you doing there?
A.I.'s son: practicing my math for my test tommorow
A.I: practice? practice? we talkin' 'bout practice. not the test - practice. we talkin' 'bout practice. not the test, not the test - practice.

Here, don´t know about McDyess, there is a big chance you won´t see him wearing a Nuggets jersey at all

Great stuff, very cool to see AI have a sense of humour about himself and have a bit of fun at his own expense.

Where did you read that? Seems strange as they've allowed such midseason jersey changes before. Antoine Walker wore #88 very briefly in his second stint with the Celtics before switching back to #8, Andre Iguodala gave up #4 when the Sixers acquired Chris Webber and Reggie Evans relinquished #34 when the Sonics acquired Ray Allen back in 2003.

Didn't Anthony Carter give up the three as well when Iverson arrived in Denver in the middle of the season?

That was DerMarr Johnson, he switched to 8 back then.

I don't see why the league wouldn't allow switching numbers during the season this time when it's been done a million times before... But it's whatever, who cares about a jersey number. I'm just really happy to see my favorite player on a team I've liked for years which also happens to be one of the best teams in the league. Hopefully AI has more success in Detroit than he had in that Denver (god, I'm glad he's finally outta there).
