Fines? What the hell? Why should he be fined for this? Why would his trade value drop? Does it make him a worse player? Who cares about image?
I like how little is being said (in the media) about his racial statement instead of his dislike of something fairly disgusting.RealGM poster wrote:can someone please explain to me why black people should honor/celebrate the 4th of July?
do yall realize while America was receiving her "freedom".... we were getting beaten, raped, maimed, tortured, slaved...and that it continued for almost 100 more years.

That statement is the truth. Blacks have been in America since the 1600s, but we didn't become full citizens until the f-cking mid-1960's. You can't undo hundreds of years of retarded racial thinking/policies in just 40 years. America is always a work in progress, and people who say we should "get over race" are plain ignorant and have their heads in the sand. If something stares me in the face, I'm not going to ignore it. When you study the black experience in America, maybe you can understand why many blacks are cynical.

You do know most of your forefathers were racist slave owners right?

Luckily their badassedness (have you seen the Constitution?) overwhelms it. And actually, a good number of them were not racist (in what we consider racism today, they didn't hate blacks, the "hatred" of them didn't come until after slavery was ended) and were slave owners merely because it's "what you did" at the time. It doesn't make it right, but compromising on slavery was the only political thing they could do. The debates during the founding over slavery were very heated, and was the only serious point of contention. So they banned importation of new ones and kicked the issue down the road, lest it destroy the country before it even got going.
Think of it like the American Civil War. The worst thing in American history, but hey, it ended slavery. So most people like it.
