I think Anstey is indeed the only NBL player that's been drafted and played in the NBA. Gaze, Heal and Bradtke all had short stints but they were all free agent signees. And of course, Brad Newley was drafted by the Rockets last year but he may never end up playing in the NBA if Europe or a return to the NBL proves too appealing.

Did Jason Smith ever get drafted? (Not the Sixers rookie bigman) I'm fairly sure he entered it once or twice.

I don't remember him entering the Draft but if he did he wasn't picked.

Nathan Jawai will be a powerhouse, if you have actually seen him play he is a great player and has a lot of potential

Like I said, I hope he succeeds but being a top player in another league or college doesn't necessarily guarantee success in the NBA. Even if has the talent and gets picked, he may never actually make the jump to the NBA or like a lot of NBL players who make it to the NBA, not get much of an opportunity to get off the bench. I don't wish that upon him but it's a fate that tends to befall Aussie players who don't go through the college system.

No way! Yinka Dare did not need to be scouted, he was the next Hakeem Olajuwon Shaq or Patrick Ewing. Well, at least he was fugly like Ewing, was from Nigeria like Hakeem and had free throw pct like shaq.

Also, weren't Portland the team who chose Sam Bowie over Michael Jordan?

airjordan89, don't joke around... I've seen the guy play! Sure he's big, and dunks really hard.(ala orlando-esque Shaq, and strangely enough he's called 'Baby Shaq') BUT HE'S NOT ALL THAT!! He's dominating the league simply because of 1 reason... WEAK Competition.

He's got a 7'3" to 7'5" wing span on his 6'10" 280 lbs body and the guys guarding him are about as thin as tree seedlings. Talk about mismatches. He can shoot from 12 feet out, goot feet, and great court vision, but all Aussie centers have those, and he's only advantage is the fact that he's bigger than most of the guys that defends against him.

But in the NBA, his only advantage from NBL is eliminated, NBA players already have ways to defend against shooting big men, and the game is a lot faster in the NBA. Do you expect me to believe he can immediately match-up against Yao, Shaq, Dwight, Amare and co?? Don't kid yourself. At best, he's an early second rounder.

^If it's true, he'll be jinxing himself, something I don't think a soon to be drafted NBA rookie will do just for laughs at a NBA video game forum. Not to mention it's just plain stupid.
