live jerseys have more detail

The 2 main parts of a sports game is 1) Gameplay/Dynamics, 2) Graphics/Realism
We don't know either game's gameplay really well because it hasn't been fully demonstrated.

But look at this comparison between live 08 and 2k8

wow to both. Look at Chris Paul's shoes in the first pic..

I'm not worried which one looks better anymore, to me they both look fantastic. Never been one to nitpick. One thing though..What is with all the wades in the background of the last pic? lol thats creepy.

Hm... 2k always had a glossy/blur look... I personally like both... 2k has always been of gameplay anyways

Holy shit, NBA Live 08's graphics look awesome. Jameer Nelson...

Live looks a lot better, but it all comes down to gameplay, and it is a long shot that it will be good.

Either way, its great to be a 360 owner.

The smaller pics look better (nba live 08?) but we all know good basketball games are done by gameplay, and EA always screws that up major.

Im confused. 2k6 had alot more shiney sweaty players, people complained about it being to unrealistic, and said they looked to glossey, 2k7 had toned down sweat, people complained said it was a step back, now the glossy sweat is there again?

Whoever the hell said that Live looked like a real game until you looked close is stupid. Live looked real last year until there was any movement what so ever. Screenshots don't mean squat. Although we've already seen some Live gameplay and it does look alot smoother.

Anyways back to the comparison. Obviously Lives screenshots of the player models looks better, but thats usually the case. The first thing I noticed about 2k screens are the atmosphere, the lighting all around, in the stands etc. Looks very real imo, where as Live is more focused on the players, and the crowd looks like shit in Live. But thats pretty much all the good i can say about the 2k screens. Jersey movements are still good it looks?...

I like Live's lighting over 2k's. But 2k definitely has an edge over Live in player models and cloth physics.

the 2k8 screens look more like 2k6 to me than 2k7, 2k6 was better IMO than 2k7 graphics-wise though. But 2k8 is looking really glossy and there's a little too much sweat which can be fixed.

I don't think the live crowd looks bad though, and as far as the 2k crowd and arena lighting, I don't think I can say anything about it because the background is blurred and you can't tell anything besides the player.

Well, I expect live 08 to be more on par with 2k gameplay wise this year, they seem to be putting a lot of work into nba live this year and focusing on gameplay primarily, they've already addressed a lot of issues and there's still time left.

We just need to wait until 2k8 releases some real info besides screens, live 08 already released that they're focusing on gameplay, hotspots, etc, and we've seen some gameplay footage which looks spectacular compared to live 07.

EA sounds like they're finally improving gameplay which gets me excited, we should have 2 very good basketball games to choose from.

I like EA's depth of field better then 2K's. 2K's looks like the old bloom effect that tried to give games a realistic lighting look before high dynamic range lighting was around. I like Live without the depth of field, and their models and textures look more accurate. 2k's jerseys look like velvet, and Live's look awesome, with the exception of the stretching shorts. The folding and rippling of Live's jerseys are alot better then 2k's, .

Also, the dunk contest looks like it might be official, considering that it is Sprite and it does have an NBA logo on it.

nba 2k player models arent not that good either

Richard Hamilton is the same size as lebron.

live models are great this year everyone the right size
and they have 7 body types 2k have only 3 thin, normal, thick
and everyone body is set normal.

If they stole the All-Star Weekend Slam Contest mode, then we should get their "The Association" mode in return!

yea live should ,but The Association mode was very limited it
wasn't authentic at all it had horrible presentation
it was just mainly just sim after sim the end boring.
the minnie games sucked it also had fake owners
and later on in the mode everyone one wears the same white
shoes u cant changed them

to me live should copy from madden franchise owner mode

Is that a joke? He doesnt look like K-Fed and why would anyone add him into a game?

I just hope one of these games has the heat fans that wore all white or the warriors fans who wore all yellow at home.

The nba 2k7 demo on xbox live is okay, i hate how when a player goes out of bounds they suddenly turn into crap resolution, then they walk onto the court and they come back to high resolution.

In the end it will most likely be like every year.

2K: smooth animations, better gameplay; not as good graphics
EA: Better graphics, better modes; crappy AI

I wish 2K and EA could stop bitching. We need a new licensed 2K football game. We need a new MVP Baseball game.

Chris Paul looks awfully shitty in-game for a coverboy.

Yeah, especially his nose. If you look at the picture of him in The X's 2K6 dynasty, he looks A LOT better, and in 2K7 he is one of the best looking player models.

Now... he looks horrible, but at least the rest of his body look nice.
