Yes!
During the off-season edit the [Dynasty Folder]/players.dbf, put the player on the team # for the retired team ugggh check teams.dbf to find this....

or you can just remove him by deleting the entire row??
Please someone verify this..

How about editing his age to something like 85 before the next season? That should do the trick I think (I've never tried it though).

Changing his TEAM and SALARYTEAM to 32 (Retired) will in effect retire him instantly and remove him from the active rosters. If you wish to force him to retire "naturally" (and hence be offered the opportunity to retire his jersey), use the method T-Wave suggested. You shouldn't have to set his age that high though, setting it around 40-45 should work.

Lol, Andrew, I bet you haven't heard of a guy called Kevin Willis? I wanted a guarantee that he'll retire. Just kidding

open dbf. go to the player and then to "destiny".
change it to 8 or higher.
At the end of the season he should retire and there was no reason to change his birthyear or so

Well that's the thing you see, NBA Live 07 doesn't account for the Kevin Willis Factor. ;)

It depends how old a player is. If he's still in his 20s for example, a DESTINY value of 8 will just mean he doesn't have much potential but he'll probably stick around. Changing a player's age (particularly to 50 or above) will pretty much guarantee he'll retire by the season's end while assigning him to the Retired pool will remove him from the active rosters immediately.

I think Andrew is right!...i tried uSta[05] suggestion in my Heat Dynasty and change Payton and Zo's destiny to 9 and none of them retires and the most sickiest thing happens Zo got 99 overall rating while GP got 89!

Did you change it to 8 or 9? 9 shouldn't be a valid value, which is probably why their ratings increased like that. In any event, changing a player's age or manually moving him to the Retired pool is the more effective method.

The DESTINY attribute ranges from 1-8, 1 being the best and 8 being the worst.

0 is a rating that's assigned to retired players on the Legends teams. For active players, 1-8 is the range you need to use with 1 being the best, 8 being the worst.

You can try extending his contract through editing players.dbf but apart from that, the only way is to edit his age.

It's in players.dbf. If you set a player's DESTINY attribute to 1 he'll have the best chance possible at developing into a star player.

What can I use to edit it? I have ultra edit, but it's confusing there...if I can use ultra edit, what do I look for? I've found it in my documents/saves/dynasty/players.dbf, but I can't find the Destiny area...What will the text say in ultra edit? If not ultraedit, what is a easier program to do it in?

DB Commander is the best program to use for DBF editing.
