Can I download a patch online onto my PS2?

Is it possible? If so, do I need any items for it like a USB cable or something? I'd appreciate any help.

Nope.

The only updates you can download as PS2 roster saves containing created players and up to date transactions. However, these require a Sharkport/Action Replay to download and are not as detailed as the PC updates as it is impossible to edit the hidden values or circumvent the created player limit. Unfortunately none of the updates for the PC version will work with any of the console versions.
