Bighort=Absolute Authority at NLSC?

What kind of community is this? There are no patents or trademarks on anybody's stuff in a goddamn gaming community. If you're taking stuff that you didn't touch and calling it your own, that's one thing, but to try to improve or innovate on something for the good of the community while giving credit to the original creators, how the hell is that so terrible.

So everyone knows, my thread with my combination of files which creates an extremely realistic Live 07 was locked because I errantly placed Pdub's aiact in with my files instead of placing the aiact which was a sweet combo of Jimmy's, Pdub's, and MXA's aiacts together. Along with it I provided other files, some which I edited myself, to give people here a set of files that worked together to create what I really think is outstanding simulation.

I apologize to Pdub for accidentally placing an exact replica of his in mine. I do not apologize on taking what somebody has done and trying to improve on it so that others can get the same results.

For christ's sake, bighort needs to step back a bit and give up his "badge" for awhile. You didn't even give me a chance to explain myself or provide any type of evidence. It's a forum where people come to download stuff they like. I'm sure as hell not getting any money in return and I'm pretty frickin' sure Pdub ain't either. So let the people decide what they want instead of shutting down somebody's attempt at helping the community.

For those who didn't get a chance to see my thread (where I gave credit and did not claim it as completely my own), here is the link to that post.

Seriously, the patching FBI has to give up on their endless worry about patch stealing. And for those who think that their patches make them the greatest thing since sliced bread and that no one should be able to include them in a COMPLETE GAMEFIX, realize that we're talking about a FUCKING PATCH for a FUCKING COMPUTER GAME.

Everyone should take a lesson from the greatest patcher here, Jimmy. Jimmy keeps putting out quality stuff and has not worried once about who is using his stuff. Cause the way Jimmy sees it, is his stuff is our stuff, and we should all just try to help eachother create the best Live we can.

Hopefully some get to read this before the post police lock it down and delete it. Not trying to cause trouble, just a little sore that my intention of helping others get a quality game was thwarted by this powertrip.

Peace to all who can objectively look at this.

Prove that you didn't just steal the patch. Because from what I can tell the whole thing is the exact same as Pat's...and now you're bitching about it. Really mature...

Redd22, I have no problem with you making your own patches from other people's work, just as long as there are significant changes to it. as you put it:
try to improve or innovate on something for the good of the community while giving credit to the original creators

as far as you repacking Pdub's files or whatever, you made a mistake and owned up to it. Just as long as it doesn't keep happening, I have no problem with you.

I'm unlocking the thread to posted a link to right now... if you choose to release a new version without PDub's stuff, be my guest.

You two putzes are comical. Not only do you try and pass off the work of others as your own, but then you peg me as some sort of authoritarian who paces the forums trying to out you  Try more like those who you are stealing from don't like it, and me being a mod, get the PMs showing proof (in these two cases, from PDub and glen), and then I do this crazy thing, and actually do my job as a moderator. Take your whiny, childish bullshit elsewhere, and stop taking work that takes days, weeks, and even months from others, and slap something together in five minutes and pass it off as your new and improved super duper patch. Sorry, I don't groove that way.

yusufmothman, you ripped glen's and Polish Patcher's works, made extremely minor tweaks, and re-released as if you had put in all the time and effort. Yes, I have proof, so there's no sense in crying foul. Don't do it again, period.

Sorry kiddies, you got called out, and now you look like douchebags; it's not my fault if you take offense to that. Live and learn.

If it comes out that either of you release anything with portions of other patchers' works without proven consent, then you'll be finding other places to post in the future. I hardly have the time to deal with your bullshit. Period.

Bottom line is that in this community, we have a few rules when it comes to using other people's work. Ask, and give credit where credit is due. It's a common courtesy amongst patchers in the NBA Live community and it's one that's been around since the beginning. It's not about ego; patchers have always done great work for the game and it's quite disrespectful to take someone's work, slap your own name on it and then accept kudos for it. Even if you've made your own modifications, it's only right to acknowledge the person whose work you used as a base.

This is something that's happened throughout the years and it's proven to be very discouraging for patchers who have put in a lot of time and effort just to see their work taken and re-released (sometimes with a few tweaks here and there) without a single acknowledgement of the person who did all the legwork in the first place. That's why we tend to get upset about it, not because we're on a power trip and enjoy enforcing some petty rule.

By all means we should share our work and collaborate on projects. But as I said, it's common courtesy to give credit where credit is due and ask permission first.

I think that's all that needs to be said.
