Free agent signing at the end of the year

Postby Bryanmac on Wed Oct 25, 2006 6:17 am

Ok guys.. this one is a little complicated, but bear with me as I try to explain it.

Prior to starting my Dynasty I created about 5 players to disperse randomly. When I began the season they were left in the free agent pool as no team could spend the $12 mil/season these guys wanted. At the end of year one they were still there. At the end of year two I decided to accept a new position with a new team. I went from the Toronto Raptors to the San Antonio Spurs. At the end of that year they were about 35 million in debt for salaries with two players coming up for free agency. After I took over the Spurs, I noticed that two of my created players were now on the raptors and the payroll was 65 million over the limit.

My question is how can the CPU sign these players when the Raps are clearly over budget - and when I went back with the raptors and tried to do the same thing (denying the request to join the Spurs) there was no way possible for me to do it.

Let me know

Its not just that... its the fact that when I let the CPU take over control of the team, it can sign the players I want... Even though the team is already 30 million over the cap.

Did they sign the players to the mid level exception?

Nope... After I saw that they signed them I went back to my old saved game and tried to achieve the same roster they had... no luck. They weren't mid level exceptions on that roster so I have no idea.

Not really sure about this, but I think I may have done it before. Here's how:
Don't resign your own expiring contracts during the period before the draft. Then on Free Agent signing, sign the new players you want (you still have cap space then coz you didn't sign your own players). Once they accept, go ahead and resign your players (they have asterisks after their name). I'm not good on salaries, but i think it's the bird rule.

The AI teams don't follow salary cap rules in FA signing. Been an issue since 05.

Yeah I don't think the AI is following the FA rules. I saw T-Mac was sign for $0 for 5-years.

They cheat the system, obviously there is a cpu-assist option for dynasty (not just the system), but like fatigue, EA forgot to let you change it... just kidding.

As people have said it has been an issue for a while, but I'd actually prefer computers to sign players like that because otherwise you get all these awesome players in FA wasting away, which is not realistic at all. Also the computers suck and need as much help as they can get.

Free Agent Period!!

Postby Jed_Dwyane on Sun Dec 10, 2006 7:36 pm

In my dynasty why can't I resign players all the players I want to keep? I am playing as Miami Heat. I could resign Dwyane Wade, but couldn't resign Jason Kapono nor Alonzo Mourning!!

After trades i had made i had no Mid-Level Exception...In Live 06 you could resign all of your own players even if it took you over the salary cap. Is this a flaw in 07 or has the rules regarding re-signing of players changed...

Well cap management is way more important than in previous versions. You can't sign all your players when you're over the cap. What was the reson Kapono and Mourning didn't resign?

thats not true. Like everything in Live, if I player doesnt want to resign, they just blame it on the cap. I know this because in one Dynasty Shavlik Randolph wouldn't resign me, he cost 9.12. But after I couldnt get him I resigned Morrison for 9.57. If it says you cant, it just means they wont. It is VERY irritating. But somewhat realistic. The dumb part is when CPU teams have money to sign a player, such as when 3 stars dont resing, but always take back the same player. But at least in this game they trade big more often. Why cant they do trades other than 1 for 1 though?

That's so true. In Live 06, you could've just resigned them when the team is over the cap, but in Live 07, you can only resign players only if you have the bird rights. If you don't sign a player during first 3 weeks of F/A signing.. drafting... then when another signing begins and when you resign them... and when the contract ends and you want to resign them, you won't be able to resign them unless you're under the cap.

I lost Bosh and Roy that way.. lol
