We got an in-store demo PS3 the other day and today I was walking by it to get a product for a customer and I caught glimpes of it, maybe 5 secs worth and it blows the 360 version out of the water. I need to investigate this more though.

Never mind, I took a closer look today and it was NBA 07 (the Sony one)

Lol, that one was better than 360 version of 2k7? Must be Billy Joe...

hmm maybe I was mesmerized by the "full HD" (720p) aspect of the game

Yea..2k7 on 360 can run on 720p....1080p or 1080i ...which is where i run it at. I've never seen a game basketball video game look better..

How significant is the difference betweeb 720 and 1080? Resolution-wise?

I just read an article about this today. 720 & 1080 are the number of lines of pixels the picture has so obviously the 1080 is a better picture with higher resolution. but the p and i at the end indicate I think it's the refresh rate or something similar to that. the p is twice as good as the i. so a 720p wouldn't have as good of a picture, but works better with movement & sports and that kinda stuff. I read that most tvs operate at 720p or 1080i, not many stations broadcast 1080p (which would logically be the best) yet.

You mean your store doesn't have a 1080 display to show off NBA 07 in all it's glory???

The progressive means it has twice as many scan lines as interlaced, thus looking better. Interlaced renders every other line:
Image
An LCD won't show this accurately, just stand across the room and look at the monitor to get the idea of how it'd look on a TV.

IMHO, NBA 07 looks like a higher polygon and more lighting (not necessarily better) version of NBA Live 2005 with Live 2002 animations. And the gameplay is pretty trashy.

Just do it like you would on a computer...

1920x1080 vs. 1280x720 (regular TV is 720x480 for NTSC or 720x576 for PAL)

The closest standard resolution comparison, (in terms of increase from one to the next) would be to boot up a game, run it at 640x480, then at 1024x768. That'd be close to the 720 to 1080 jump. (800x600 to 1280x800 would be the actual closest I can do with my monitor, but that second one isn't a standard resolution)

Ok thanks you pretty much summed it up both. Good to know what to get and what not to get (Y)

Back to 2k7, would it be worth to pick up the current gen game in exchange for 2k6, since I have to push my 360 investment even more...?

um well from what I hear, the game's pretty much like 2k6 with a few added rookies on current gen. since I haven't played 2k6, it was a nice change for me. But since you have 2k6, I'd suggest adding rookies to that game and keep it. The next gen version is worth getting though (Y)

edit: I have the ps2 version, waiting to buy a ps3 next year so i can play 2k7 next-gen.

I got 2K7 on the Xbox and I think it sucks to be honest. It's almost the same as 2K6 which was great, but the player movements aren't as smooth and the game overall feels more clunky... which isn't good considering most of the downsides of 2K6 are still there aswell.

Finally got the game on 360 today and all can say is 'wowee!'

Very, very impressed. Seems a lot smoother than last years and the shooting styles are awesome.

Anyways, just wondering whether anybody knows where to find any decent CAPS for the missing players? Would be stoked for any assistance.

Try Operation Sports (search in google) or try the general 2k7 board.

OS has them as said. If you have a memory card transfer kit, you can just download the rosters and put them in your 360. The kit's only $15 (US) but the memory card's $40 (N). But I think it's worth it when it's all said and done.

Well I've got a couple of games I'll trade in to get the current gen version of the game rather soon... just to get one of this year's games, a recent bball sim. I hope it has some sig shots but I'm not disappointed if it hasn't.

I can tell you 2k7 for PS2 (and presumably Xbox) has sig shots. I've seen Iverson, Kobe, Marion, T-Mac, & Lebron so far.

There's not many of them, and some are very random. Like Michael Redd doesn't seem to have has, but Gary Payton does.

The main guys all have theirs, Kobe/LeBron/Wade/Carmelo etc etc. I don't think the current gen version is as good as 2K6, but I think if I got the sliders perfect it'd be a great game.

i've never played 2k series before, but after that sick MJ video...i've played nba 2k7 for the first time on ps2.....the current gen.....i like this game....it gives me more feeling than live 07, it feels like the real games, only the graphic wasn't as good, making a current roster will be really hard but i can't wait till i get the next gen version....i don't know if i can wait till PS3 is out haha i might just go grab a xbox 360!! damnit

I just got 2k7 for xbox, after already owning 2k6 and as Jae said, there isn't that much of a difference other than 3 way trades, a couple of rookies, 1 or 2 new crossovers and about 10 new jumpshots for about 20 guys. They use the same jump shots on different guys, LeBron and Wade have the exact same shot. Im also finding it hard to hit mid range shots with Melo.

Also does anyone know where i can find a full list of sig jump shots for the 360?

thanks
