Players dont WALK in Live 07?

Postby Lagoa on Fri Oct 13, 2006 4:12 am

In Live 06, if you put less force in analogic control, players walk in court...

In Live 07, this stuff not work....

Players not walk in Live 07? Only run? :?

Yeah, i found that pretty annoying too...
I dunno if it's with all controllers though.

I just tried my game, i think you can still walk, but it somewhat lookslike you are running, I don;t think it's that bad.

i think its better than the walk, they sort of jog up the court and i think thats more realistic / looks cooler

I disagree with you Junwin, you should be able to walk, jog, and run based on how much you push the analog stick in the direction you would like to move. If people want realism, then that would be the answer...

Totally agree, if you have an PS2-style controller, I don't see why u shouldn't be able to fully use it, especially since this feature was working fine in previous Live versions.

yea, whatever happened to the walk / run differentiation from 06? totally sucks without it, especially for defense positioning...

strange this wasn't mentioned to EA for the patch

I'm pretty sure that question was answered by the thread you just bumped for some reason i.e. it's not there anymore.

It wasn't mentioned because it's not a bug; that's just how the walking/running animations are this year. I'm sure it'll be an item on the 08 Wishlist though.

Yeah, I found this to be annoying as well.

If you look at it logically, do you think this is really a design point? I mean, can you imagine ( maybe you can ) developers/artists sitting in a meeting and saying 'Yes, I think walking is terrible. Lets get rid of the walking with the analog stick. Nobody ever walks and it will be much easier to rip it completely out of pre-existing animation/code.' ?

On that same note, can you envision a wishlist for 2008 that had a big bullet point saying 'Please add the ability to walk the ball up the court again'?

At what point is this just counterproductive ( much like this post that I've made )?

Meh.

Actually....

I think there are huge calibration issues with analog sticks for PC, and using their functionality for walk/run makes it so sometimes guys won't run full speed when you want them too.

Every so often on madden, my logitech dual analog changes its calibration somehow so that up doesn't register as quite all the way up, and all of a sudden my guys running downfield just jog; it's like the randy moss ratio.

Other brands of gamepads like thrustmaster have their game pad mapped as a circle rather than a square, so diagonally in any direction has less magnitude then if they used a square; up and left = 67% up and 67% ** left instead of 100% up and 100% left. so on some games the joystick makes you jog instead of run if you go diagonally.

*(or whatever the proper math is)

I was always paranoid that my guys were jogging like that on nba '05 because my gamepad was messed up....

so for those reasons i'm not that sad to see walking go
