Game won't even install -

Postby Salami&Cheese on Sat Sep 30, 2006 3:29 am

I am scared here guys - what is wrong with my computer?

Here's what happens to me when I try to install live07:
"Enter your product code"
I enter it, its all good
"Please read the following license agreement carefully"
here is where I have seen my first problem. There is no text in the box - just looks blank:

But I still have the option to click yes I agree...so I do.
this is where the installation stops:
"Installation cannot continue because the game requires Directx9c or higher, you can downlaod the lastest version here: website"

So the first time I get this message I thought - that's simple, so I download Directx9c, go through installation - same problem.
So then I install directx9c off of the NBA07 CD, hoping that this would make a difference - obviously not.

So - I have updated drivers for my system, leaving me thinking its my system - here is what I have running:

AMD Athlon 64 Processor 2800+
1.8 GHz, 1.5 GB RAM
MicroXP Pro Sv.2
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900 Ultra - 256 lm
80 Gig hard drive,
Actually - here is a pic of EA's easyinfo on my system:

These info boxes instead of checkmarks make me think something is up, but from what I've read, my video card is supported - and I downloaded the newest drivers from nvidia today.
So I got to thinking that it was a faulty CD! so I returned the game and got a new one, telling them that their cd was corrupted.... but - same problems when I got home again. It installs fine on my laptop and worth noting is that I have Live06 installed on this very same system.

Thanks in advance to anybody who is willing to help me out,
S&C

HA! I've finally found someone else with this stupid problem! It's your lucky day!

1. Open up the directory of the Live DVD.
2. Right click Autorun.exe and select Properties.
3. Select the Compatibility tab and set it to run in Windows 2000 compatibility mode.
4. Hit Apply, OK, etc.
5. Run Autorun.exe and enjoy!

This happens to me with all EA Sports 07 games and the fix is kind of messy, but effective. Glad someone has an easily solvable problem with this game for once. :)

Did you guys try updating the driver for your graphics card before you did this?

I'm a driver freak and I tend to install every new NVIDIA driver and every DirectX revision as soon as they're released, so it doesn't seem to be the problem - it's been happening for a while.

It's really a fantastic game other than the sub bug...I'm still not sure why everyone needs the game to be flawless to enjoy it. Even something like PES has plenty of random glitches, but it's still my favorite sports game.

I realize the sub bug makes it impossible to simulate a game, but the gameplay is still fun, for the first half of a game at least.
