Unreal basketball

Hiya all

I started playing NBA 06 this week, and it's so unreal!

I'm playing with 11 minutes quarters, and EVERY game I play finishes with an absurd score, like 169 x 166, with no extra time, just the 4 quarters!

And I play in "Simulation" mode... Hey, where's the simulation in this? Looks like it's too easy to score... In NBA 05 I never had this kind of problem...

How can I make it difficult (for the user and the PC)?

11 minutes is an insane amount of time to be playing. I recommend 8/9 minute quarters and you just gotta play with the sliders until you find a setting you like.

I will play with 8 minutes now... But in 2005 I was playing with 12 minutes, and the score was normal.

Thanks for helping. (Y)

you can do 12min quarters and be realistic, just go through the sliders thread, a lot of it is running set plays and slowing down the game speed.

If you use some of the better sliders it does, you have to run plays and use the shot clock and use andrew's rosters and make sure your game speed isnt too high and your fatigue is high enough.

You're right though, it doesnt always work, but usually it does.

lol?? i play superstar... even made shooting low and SLOW DOWN the game purposely and it still goes a little bit above realistic scoring... so best thing to do is reduce the minutes being played.

i play 6 minutes a quarter on Superstar, and the score is usually realistic. I've never had a score past 120, and that was overtime.

plus......like they said alternate ur sliders a little bit. it helps

He wants to play 11-12 minute quarters. So it doesn't really help him when you say you play 6 minutes and have good results.

It's all about the sliders, roster tweaking also helps a little bit! 8-)

Playing good defense is another important thing. Dont gamble, be patient. Its more important to contest something close to the basket than to contest a jumper.

Also lower your sliders for mid range and long range shooting, thus players with lower FG or 3 PT shooting will miss more and your scores wont go into 120+

Its all about your style of play, if you play all stupid then yea the scores are goin to be ridiculous, you have to put the sliders in favor of the pc. Up to the point where if you play stupid the computer will blow you out.

Once you learn how to controll the flow of the game and actually run set plays then the game is the best sim available for a pc. But like I said you gotta play real for it to be sim. I never seen you play but I gaurantee if your having problems keeping the game realistic its you. Not the game

Yes and if you always go on fast breaks and score 70% of the time the score's gonna be really big. Once I scored something like 150p with the sliders set.
If I'm not reading or rocking out, I'm probably walking or watching others walk.

Oh man, yesterday I played a 12 minute quarter game, with Andrew's roster modified by me. I also used the plays from playmakers playbook available at the forums. I had changed the Sliders enormously, too.

I won with Golden State against Atlanta 102 - 95. Everything was alright, including FGAs, FTs, TOs, ..., the only thing that did bother again were the OREBs, but you won't be able to change that.

Too bad I forgot to make screenshots.
Maybe I'll play a game again this evening and then don't forget it. :)

Played 12 min quarters. I have modified now Golden State, Atlanta and the Lakers. I played the Hawks in this matchup. I will try to lower the number of turnovers and raise the amount of freethrows. The only thing I won't be able to change is offensive rebounding.

After the next game I will perhaps post the (maybe) final sliders I will use for my game.

For a effective 12-min quarter game with realistic results 3 things are important:
- your style of play (use strategies!) and that you do not use run and gun
- sliders
- tweaked roster

Well, this post is useless in sense of offering you out there a working roster. Reason is because I used Andrew's roster as a base and I won't give it to you, since I am only allowed to modify it for myself. I only want to show you, that it is possible, to get good results!
