Okay guys, I am still completely confused and shouldnt be.

So it is clear that these new files go into your main directory and not your temporary My Documents/NBA Live 06/etc... correct?

Also, there is originaldb, workingdb, and currentdb.. though these are found in the 'my documents' and not c:/programfiles/easports/nbalive06/etc.. folder.

If I had hair, I'd be pulling it out because I know its not this complicated.

Also, If I wanted to create the Dream Team, and I already have LegendsV4 roster pulled up, I could probably copy the 90's All Stars and wouldnt have to create new people, just copy them, and re-identify their team correct?

Yes, you are correct.

You are correct again.

Also, If I wanted to create the Dream Team, and I already have LegendsV4 roster pulled up, I could probably copy the 90's All Stars and wouldnt have to create new people, just copy them, and re-identify their team correct?

I think that you would need to create a new team, then copy the players.dbf and appearance.dbf data to the new roster. Then you would need to re-identify the team as you said. Try this.

Thanks big time.... I am currently doing the uniform and I'm sure i will mess up after I put a lot of time into it.. haha.. always happens that way, at least the first time. This is a lot more complicated than doing Madden Teams which I am used to doing. Or maybe it just seems that way because I am new at it.

It definitely takes alot of time. But eventually you'll get into such a groove you can do it without much effort. Keep it up. (Y)

No problem, I had such a hard time doing this at first, and now it is a piece of cake.

Okay, after hours of work, I went to load the game and only the flash screen came.

I may have misallocated a file somehow but I cant imagine where.

The last thing I did was add players to my team. Well, I created the uniforms, created the team, then added players to the roster. After doing all three, thats when I fired up the game, only to have it not fire up.

The game didn't load at all, or it crashed in-game? :?:

Didnt load at all.
You know how you click on the shortcut and the splash screen comes up? Where you can still see your desktop for a few moments. Well, after a few moments, the NBA Live 06 splash goes away and you are still at the desktop....never left the desktop.

I am tempted to just reinstall the game now that I have my custom .viv file.

Heres what I did:

1. created my jersey using Andrew's tutorial (usad92h.viv)
2. created a team, did teamgear.dbf editing. I copied basically an existing team, then changed the sequence (368) and team number (51) as needed.
3. I created my roster by .dbf editing. I copied 12 people from the legends players.dbf and gave them a unique ID as well as changed their jersey numbers and teamID to fit my created team (51). I issued them a roster spot from 0-11.
4. The game would not start up.

*******

1. I compressed my .viv file but its still 1.88mb.

Just to clear up any confusion, I haven't written any tutorials for jersey patching; graphics aren't my forte. The NLSC does host Bassman58's resources though.

Okay, I think I'm a solid step closer after reinstalling and doing it again. Now I can get into the game, and my teams name and roster shows up in the roster management section, as well as the 1 on 1 practice mode. However, my team name is not in the 'Team Selection' under 'Play Now' and when I initiated the practice session, the game crashed to the desktop.

I'm pretty sure it has to do with my jersey.viv files but I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. Both my home and away files are still around 1.5mb in size. Something tells me they should be much smaller.

I guess I need a "Installing Patches for Idiots" guide. I downloaded the cyberface and portrait zip files for Andrew Bynum and Smush Parker from website but what/where do I even unzip them to? I normally catch onto things quick but I think it's due to most of these tutorals starting off with creating the custom face/portrait that throws me off.

Put all the files in the NBA Live 06/sgsm folder. I think you need to edit the .dbf too for both of them.

Ok so I would need to do the following?

n players.dbf you need to change:

ISCREATED to False
ISGENERATE to False
ISHISTORIC to False
PLYERPKG to the 7 letter code that's used (i.e. smparke)

In appearance.dbf you need to find the APPEARID that's the same as the PLAYERID from players.dbf for that player, then edit the following for that line:

FACEID to -1

Once you've done that, reload the rosters and the portrait and cyberface should be there.

EDIT - Bynum's worked but I must need to fix Smush's since he was a custom player.
