If Isiah is a good drafter, then he'll have to show it on the 2nd round. Poor Knicks fans.

He did draft Trevor Ariza back in that 2nd round in 2004, so let's hope for more of the same luck.

John Hollinger: OK, if you're a Knicks fan and didn't already know this you might want to sit down. The pick in the Curry trade had NO LOTTERY PROTECTION. So if the Knicks end up with one of the top picks, which they're headed toward, they'll just hand it over to Chicago. (But hey -- you still have San Antonio's pick from the Malik Rose trade!)

Wait, come back off the ledge, I have more. The Knicks also gave the Bulls the option to swap picks in 2007, so if the Knicks stink a year from now -- which is more plausible given their lack of a draft pick -- then they'll also forfeit that lottery pick.

the deal has been great so far. right now NYK has the 3rd worst record in the NBA. they'll probably move up a few spots since Larry Brown coached teams historically tend to improve as the season goes on. i won't complain if it ends up being top 10

Good news Knicks fans!

Isiah Picks Up Pursuit Of Raptors' Rose
22nd December, 2005 - 4:42 am
New York Daily News - The Knicks' on-again, off-again pursuit of Jalen Rose may be on again. Brendan Suhr, Isiah Thomas' top lieutenant, scouted the Raptors Monday when they were in Orlando. A day earlier, Knicks scout Walker D. Russell watched the Raptors play the Sixers in Toronto.

Rose has been on the Knicks' radar for two years, but it's unlikely that Toronto would trade the veteran because his contract expires this summer. Another possibility is point guard Mike James, who was a backup for Larry Brown when the Pistons won the title in 2004. Brown has talked about acquiring a point guard in order to move Stephon Marbury to shooting guard

Isiah should dump Marbury for Mike James and forget about Rose entirely.

I'd take Rose over Marbury though for the fact that his contract expires after this season, while Marbury's is WAY too long.

About the game last night, the Knicks are TERRIBLE at guarding the 3. That was maybe the worst display of defense I've seen in A LONG time. The Knicks seem to be doing a lot of that lately.

I thought Frye was good at D in college? He sucks at it in the NBA. He's always way off his man and when he gets back to guard them when they're going to shoot, all he does is puts his hands up. It's bad enough he's not covering his man, but then he doesn't even try to make up for it by going for the block.

Our other bigs, Eddy Curry and Jerome James are one in the same. That's not a good thing folks. Yeah, they can score a few points in the paint if you give them the ball, but they are both foul and turnover prone and they don't pass out of a double or triple team! They needa take lessons from Shaq or something on sharing the ball as a big man. They walk into double or triple teams and then get called for a charge or turn the ball over. F'N totally useless fat slow bastards..

Isiah should be fired, the Knicks win percentage has gone down every year he's been with the team.

2004: barely made the Playoffs; record is about .500
2005: 10 games below .500 record
2006: looks like we could end up worse than last year; one of the bottom 3 worst teams

You can't just straight up trade Marbury for James. Marbury makes like 5 times more.
I would like to know what Isiah has to do to get fired??

JWB, I've been screaming about this for years. Until we get new, smart ownership in here(like the dudes running the Pistons), the Knicks will continue to flounder. With Jim Dolan & Cablevision calling the shots, we're f-d. Isiah's only part of the problem.

Like you said, salaries won't match, so through in Rose and/or other players to make it work.

Wasn't P Diddy or some other celeb planning on buying the Knicks?

lol i can't believe knicks fans are hoping for Jalen Rose! if Rose came to the knicks in exchange for Marbs, not only would nyk be crappier this year, it's possible they could finish in the lottery again next year... which is nice since the bulls have the option to swap picks in 2007

btw- what's up with NYK and Chicago Bulls leftovers

I've heard that Isiah is real interested in Rashard Lewis too. Since Shard is opting out of his contract, I wouldn't be surprised to see if Seattle looks to get something for him. The only thing is the Knicks always through out shitty offers or a shitty player and 5 first round picks. I think Rashard might be the player that could turn the season around.

On a side note, Mike Sweetney's a monster in Chitown.

Give them James back.

And was Curry a free agent when we gave them those players and picks for him?

If he was, shouldn't we have just signed him?

Not that I'd want to after watching him perform.

maybe you could have signed him outright if Curry settled for the MLE (as you know NyK is over the cap so that's the highest they could have offered), though the bulls still had the right to match any offer since Curry was a RFA ;)

so to make both parties happy, a sign and trade was worked out

It's not that I'd want Rose, it's just that I'd want Marbs and his long contract out of here.

Knicks actually won a game tonight. Beat the equally bad Utah Jazz.

I watched a few minutes of a January 1996 game vs. the Heat earlier today.
