my opinions on live 06

Postby scrub on Tue Oct 11, 2005 5:21 am

i got it on saturday :D and i expected it to be quite bad cause of the feedback on the board. but i was very plesantly surprised.
i love:
1) superstar abilities
2) more realistic stats
3) improved graphics
4) improved blocking and steal realism (its still pretty bad i guess but i guess when someone drives your not exactly guaranteed the block, you have to time your jump whereas in 05 no matter when you jumped you got the block with a half-decent blocker)
5) fastbreak (i love it)
6) turnover realism (in 05 you were pretty much guaranteed a the pass to complete 95% of the time)

i dislike:
1) missing legends but ea cant do anything
2) ea didnt do much to the game apart from playin mode, they basicaly changed orange to blue and got rid of the 'my nba live lounge.' i would liked a few extra features
3) cpu off rebounding (ppl on the board said they hated it and they couldnt change sliders to fix it but i found it not too bad, i mean it can be annoyin but i was expectin def rebounds to be impossible)
4) ROSTER CUTOFF
jesus christ - 4th aug thats fuckin shite i mean do ea realise that there are still important agents yet to be signed and players are still pretty much on the trading block (joe johnson, finleyetc have to trade etc and many rookies still yet to be signed arent there)
this was the worst thing about live as soon as i got it i immediately had to chanvge rosters which took a while

any comments?

theres a lot of negative feedback on this board because
1)camouflaging 2K fanboys who dont even have the game just bash it
2)sliders adjustments
3)nagging, freestyle superstar effectiveness believe it or not are abused by certain ppl and they are the ones complaining

I agree wit ur review :)

i think its an improvement over 2005 except that tip-ins are too accurate for my liking (usually leads to cpu PF getting 70+% shooting)

wats your off rebound slider at? i hardly ever get tip-ins... (not enough to raise shooting to 70% anyway)

i also agree with what was said about nothing being done to the game, except for changing the menu colour. i think thats dam pathetic. just changing the screen to blue is useless...

its set to 0 for cpu, they still get around 15-20 per game anyways. If the other team has a player like elton brand they usually get them all singlehandedly... the AI for my team likes to pick up the opposing PG with my center or something which usually leads to a mismatch inside, and if i try to switch (my pg usually ends up in the @#!#ing paint), it leads to a wide open 3.

slava, your C will pick up the other PG if your playing a man on man, and the guy your controlling is supposed to be on the other PG...

and if you dont fucking want off boards to wreck your PF fg %, put YOURS to 0 as well...

please reread my previous post, the offensive board problem is that the CPU is getting them, not me. i'd run a zone more often if the playbook settings would actually save.

the game is good, what i dont like is the spin move, human players can use it limitlessly and can get easy hoops inside.

how can you stop it?

The amnesty clause was a one time thing... It gave teams this ONE chance to get rid of some bad contracts... It won't happen next summer and the summer after that either... It was a one time thing ONLY! I would be surprised if we ever saw that feature in the game.

Three way deals are something that the game could have really used, but it is not as neccesary as it seems...

Only if the AI would be active enough to do some deals like this, it would make sense, but the in-game trading is more of a one-for-one dealing or two-for-two... Not like 8 player mega deals...
