I think there is no way to use backdown with keyboard but only with a pad with analogic stick. I was able to set "hands up" in defence with keyboard but not backdown and in offence game without backdown the steal against your players are sure. For enjoy the game 100% you need a pad.

You can simply edit it by the menù game. I set it with ENTER (bind K_ENTER DIRECTPASS) and when I press it+shoot, or dunk ecc I made a superstar movement.

I'm still playing 2005 till I get around to buying a controller (hopefully this week). this is the first year they've really forced you to buy a controller to have any hope of playing at a competitive level.. I really like my kb config for direct passing, off the ball, play calling, etc.. but no longer

So, there is absolutely no way of editing the config file to be able to do backdown on keyboard OR no one has figured it out how to do that yet?

I have a Logitech game pad that's basically a USB version of the PS2 controller... I can't get backdown to work worth crap. The right analog stick activates Off-Ball movement, not the backdown... I'm going to have to see about that.

And the manual told me that L1 + O. X. square or triangle would do superstar movements... Argh.

Right but SAYING that and me trying that are two entirely different things.

Do you mean holding it down as in depressing the R3 button or pointing the analog stick in the direction of the basket? Because the former is Off-Ball control and doesn't work for backdown.

Move the right stick down, don't press it, just move it in the down direction and hole it.

Interesting; alright, I'll give that a shot and see how it works out. How do I body up without moving, like protect the ball and such?

If it doesn't work, check your button config in the game and make sure you have it set right... And to protect the ball, it's the same as backdodwn (just that you don't move the player).

Oh, so tilting the right analog stick doesn't move the player, just initiates a backdown stance?

I'm working on it, but as I posted in another thread, I need some help.

I'm looking at the configs to insert a backdown for the PC, but I don't have a double analog controller to compare to. What does the right analog stick do (up, down, left, right)? What is the button for off-ball control? Also, please list your controller. Thank you.

Yep, got it working. Post control still sucks, as it has in every single basketball game ever. It's difficult to get the shot I want, it's irritating to face up close to the rim, the players don't respond quickly enough (whether they've got good quicks or not) and they move without fluidity. The post game has basically remained the same for what, 4 or 5 years now. Same variety of moves, essentially, same blocky, unwieldly controls...

Argh.

NBA Live is a damned guards' game... Curses.

wow this is stupid and has basically ruined the game for me. Why the heck can't I set the backdown/defensive stance to the Left trigger? Screw superstar trigger, I want defense and a post game...using the right analog for it is outright retarded. How am I supposed to press steal, jump/block, or shoot/dunk while holding the right analog up at the same time??

Good job, EA. Throw away a solid control scheme for useless gimmicks
