Question about 06 Patching!

Postby zmac on Mon Sep 19, 2005 11:10 pm

How long would it take everyone here to start doing patches for the new 06, by patches i mean roster updates and player adding.....

Does it usually take a while or is it exactly the same as 05 so you can do it quickly coz you already know how?

Seems like there's a large job ahead for you patchers, rosters are very outdated for the PC version at least.

So as for my question....

Will it take Andrew and the patchers a long time to get to know the program so they can make roster updates and missing players?

Rosters more or less won't be that hard to decipher. it's pretty much the same every year except for a couple of new fields put in or taken out. It depends on the patcher's time and will to patch.

the graphics on the other hand will depend on the format. it'll depend if EA changed the format for the graphics. if they did, then we'd have to wait a little longer for someone to make a tool to use for patching. there's also a chance that the mapping of the textures might change but that's a little easier to adjust to. another thing to worry about is if the directory mapping might change making it harder to find some other files for lesser patched parts of the game e.g. portraits, headbands, etc.

First, folks will need to get the game. Assuming all of the current editors work with the graphics files, graphics patchers will just need to get used to any changes in the file formats/methods etc then they can begin churning out the updates. I expect it won't take as long for the experienced patchers so long as the current editors are indeed compatible.

Rosters are easy enough to decipher, but given how far back the rosters are it will take some time. I'm going to finish up with the NBA Live 2005 rosters, hand them over then start on NBA Live 06. But I'm actually going to have some fun with NBA Live 06 before I start thinking in-depth about patching.

Yes, I know. As I said, because the rosters are somewhat outdated it will take some time to create missing players, make all the transactions and edit existing players' ratings.

I'm 90% it will be possible again, but maybe there need to be new tools created first to open the files.

Bheds are identical, two samples are posted in the Missing Players-thread. Amir Johnson and Chris Taft to be exact. :)

Well it probablt won't be hard to patch NBA Live 06 because I remember reading the interview thing and the person (from EA) said that they will make it easy or make it possible for people to make patches for Live 06.
