Rocket fans are always on Yao and Tmac nuts, let dem rest geez.....just because Tmac would pass to Yao dont make him a playmaker and i hope EA didnt make him one, Tmac is predominantly a scorer so be happy about datt-macNyao111 wrote:VC/KG wrote:i think lots of ppl are forgetting dat the casual buttons for dunk, layup or watever is STILL AVAILABLE, so i dont see how dats a big problem really.
I actually think that it is a problem...
I'll also take Mcgrady for example, in real life, Mcgrady can shoot threes in ppls face (shooter), dish the ball to yao (playmaker), blow past his defender (outside score?), and finish strong with some crazy dunks (high flyer)... However, in the game, you can only choose t-mac to be one of the things, does is mean that if we want tmac to shoot a bank shot then we cant have him doing behind the back pass to yao? or we take his ability to dunk ON ppl?
So in other words, if we want tmac to shoot threes in ppl's face all day (like in real life), we cant have him to dunk on ppl at the same time? yea, I know it may be true that there's still that "shoot" button, but if u can recall last years live (2005), it was almost impossible to make threes unless ur wide open, if someone is contesting the shot, it would then most likely be off. This is somewhat realistic, since contesting shots do lower the percentage. However, guys like T-mac, Kobe, Carter, Lebron, etc do not really get affected. How many time do u see these guys shoot an open shot in a real game??? Thats where the shooter ability comes in, Im guessing that by shooting with the freestyle superstar ability enabled, he percentage will be higher, and you will have the ability to shoot in ppls face, and that probably goes the same for other abilities as well, and that's why i thought it might be a bad thing that you cant have more than one ability at a time. Because if you can only make Mcgrady a "shooter", he would only be an upgraded kyle kover, not the mcgrady that we know...
I think what EA can consider is to have users to set up the freestyle superstar buttons the way we want. By this i mean if we want tmac to shoot threes+dunking on ppl+being a playmaker at the same time, we can setup the controls such as "L+shoot" = bank shot, "L+Pass" = "MJ Dunk", "L+ dunk" = behind the back pass", etc. so we can use all the players abilities the way we like. Now i can have Tmac doing all the things he does in real life (well, almost...)
*T-Mac "N" Yao*

Sorry if u didn't follow NBA Live series, but by looking at the screenshots, i looks like tmac is a out.scorer+high flyer+shooter+playmaker, but i dunno, screenshots might be wrong, and maybe ur right...
besides, i was juss using mcgrady as an example, as stated in my previous post. i think it only makes sense if someone like tmac can do all those things at once because thats what they do in real life...

now look at everyone, OMG (insert player) is a shooter, passer, stopper, shitter, etc.!!! we're all going to die!

If you have ever played the game you know that somethings limit other things... Like if you have a good feel for the outside shot, you are more likely to look for the shot rather than some fancy pass to your team mate.
And if you have a good day from downtown, you probably won't drive as much or have such a great day from closer in.
I play hoops regularly and I would describe myself as a shooter... Ofcourse not among NBA players, but among my peers. So I usually do shoot. I sill make some great passes and I still sometimes get past my defender, but my main offense is shooting. When my shooting feels a bit off, I usually dish more and more fancy passes and I can usually hit better from closer on in...
Usually I have a good day at something and thus I focus on it rather than try to do something else.
The selection is basically choosing if you're guys mindset is set at "shooter", "highflyer" or "playmaker" etc. It's not really taking away the abilities the guys have. Like T-Mac will still be able to dunk on people, you just won't be able to choose the way you dunk it on his head. Or on the break, the guy can still make the pass, but he won't do it around his head or anything of the sort. I'm sure you can still go for the alley-oop even if your guy isn't a playmaker...
This limitation is mostly due to the button restrictions of the console controllers, but these things are realistic too... I believe you can make great looking plays without ever even touching the freestyle controls, so don't worry about it.
