2020 Playoffs: (2) Toronto vs. (7) Brooklyn

Tue Aug 11, 2020 5:50 am

With no Kyrie, Durant or Dinwiddie, the Nets have nonetheless gone 4-2 in the bubble so far, and have clinched the #7 seed. However, those guys won't be walking through that door, and in the first round they face the defending champs. With no dominant superstar, I think Toronto's streak of never sweeping a series continues. However, I don't think the Nets have the talent to give them a real challenge. Toronto in 5.

I think teams have been resting players vs the nets. They get swept by raptors

I'll pick the scrappy Nets to steal one game, but that's it. The Raptors have very quietly had a really good season despite losing Kawhi Leonard, and I see them moving on in five.

Raptors in 5. There's gonna be 1 game where a Nets player gets hot but that's it.

No matter what happens, Vaughn should get the head coaching job. Look at how hard these young cats are playing for him. I don't want to hear about Jason Kidd, Mark Jackson or Tyronn Lue.

Of course the two stars will have a big say in the next coaching hire.

Not that scoring 130 on the Blazers is hard to do, but I was impressed with the Nets in their last game against Portland. They won't just lay down and die.

I agree that Vaughn should be their coach next year, but I wouldn't go signing him to some long-term deal. Like you implied, things will change with their stars back in the lineup. Of course I don't think any team should consider Mark Jackson or Jason Kidd ever.

"They won't just lay down and die"

That's why Vaughn should get the job. It tells me the players have bought in to what the coach is selling.

Unless you're telling me Popp or VanGundy is interested in the job, I'd stick with Vaughn.

I agree that he's earned the gig.

After such an overwhelming loss, it's clear the Nets need to make some changes next season. Wild prediction, but I think they add Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

I cannot wait for the Nets to implode next season :)
