Lag

Hi guys

Currently playing 2k14 on PC. Without mods it ran 110% smooth but the more mods I put on the choppier it runs. I did expect this and I am prepared to spend a bit of money to upgrade my PC but I'm not to knowledgeable with computers so I'm looking for some advice. I figure that maybe I should upgrade my RAm as I only have 4GB?? I don't have solid state or a good video card but I wouldn't think I'd need to get these things for this game. I'm trying to save money for my Xbox One. My FPS at the moment is in the mid 50's

Any ideas?

My Specs are nothing special

Save your money for the console.

It sounds like you are getting a lot of hard drive swapping with mods installed. If all possible, maybe you can compress the mods you downloaded back to a smaller state because the game is getting choppy reading them from the hard drive. I'm not sure if the mod programs allow you to do that. Try setting the 2k14 process priority to high in windows task manager, and defragmenting the drive. If it's the steam version, you can just defragment the game files through steam. Set your antivirus software to game mode or pause protection while you play.

You share almost half your ram with the graphics card. I don't think that is necessary. I'm not entirely sure how that works as to whether it increases or decreases the shared amount based off what you need, but if it's taking up almost 2gb of your 4gb of ram, leaving only 2gb of ram for the game, that could be an issue.

Running the game in the mid 50's is pretty good. Even the current gen consoles have trouble keeping that consistently.

OK cheers. I'll try those tips. If it doesn't work do you think buying more RAM should fix it? RAM is pretty cheap and if that's all I had to buy to fix it I'd gladly do it

Most likely, but remember that the game played fine before the mods were installed, so if you can fix it without spending money, that would be the first choice.

If you do get more ram, get the same kind or get twice as much as you have of some better ram. You don't want to mix and match ram.

Actually after playing a full game it's a little better. Still made a difference though. I'll try your other ideas and if it's still not 100% smooth I'll spend a bit of money and buy some RAM. Cheers for your help buddy

I've got

i5 3550
Nvidia GTX 670
16gb RAM

and no matter what settings I play it on it lags. I had the same issue last year and the game's almost unplayable.
