Dear LiveJournal,

Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

Surgically, and I'm going to be OUT.

I had a tooth extraction, and it isn't that bad. It's just the after effects..... which make you seem like you were run over/drunk. Then you barely stand up (because it hurts) and throw up all day. In 2 days, it'll be better.

Yea I didnt have that with my wisdom teeth. I remember going out, then walking to the car after, then waking up face down in a pool of my saliva and blood on my bed covered in plastic.

I never threw up or anything, nor did anyone else I know who had tooth work done who didnt have complications with the painkillers or anesthesia.

True. I had three problematic ones come through which I was able to get out in the chair, which wasn't too bad.

They gave me 7 or 8 shots for the one I got extracted last Fall, and it still wasn't enough, I could feel fucking everything. The root was apparently twisted, and it took them an hour and all the torture instruments that they had to remove it. Worst pain I've ever felt.
Maybe I shouldn't have done this in Mexico either.

My third generation iPod nano died and all attempts to restore it were unsuccessful, so I bit the bullet and picked up a new sixth generation nano today. It's been kind of an expensive week, I won't be splurging on any more luxuries for a little while.

Our team came back from 10 with a minute to go to win 33-32. Basically we pressed and got two threes, then one of my teammates nailed a layup and 1, but then some kid was running his mouth to the ref, so we got 3 free throws and took the lead and held it. great game,.

I made an insurance claim on my iPhone and it's been sent to Apple, so I feel your pain when it comes to their products breaking down. I'm now stuck with this crappy Samsung flip phone until it's repaired or replaced.

How was Canberra by the way? I see you're back on the boards, so you didn't freeze to death

Haha yeah, and after the game the whole team was in total shock so they were pleading their case to the ref.

Two more weeks at home with my parents before I head off to college. The last few days have basically turned into Worry-Fest 2011 with my mom.

That's the really tiny one isn't it? I'm glad my phone and iPod started to break down around the same time. I replaced both with an iPhone for $200, which is a lot better than spending $150 for an iPod (nano) plus $100 for a new phone. It's a lot more convienent too. (Y)

Sadly mine was way out of warranty. The new nano's pretty cool though I'm a bit disappointed with the battery life so far. Admittedly I've been using the menus a bit which I know drains the battery quicker but I had to recharge it way before getting the advertised (up to) 24 hours of playback. I'll have to test it out just playing on shuffle with the screen off and avoiding skipping as much as possible, I'll probably get closer to the 24 hours doing that.

Canberra was great thanks, it actually wasn't as cold as I was expecting. My friend (whose birthday we were all going down there for) posted a photo of a frozen puddle that he snapped on his way to work that week, so I was prepared for the worst. In the end it wasn't too bad though, a bit chilly but hardly freezing. Party was great, good times with good friends and all that.

It's a long drive to stay overnight though and I don't much care for driving through Sydney, though I got through unscathed both ways. Worth it for the party though and my friends are often making that drive back to Newcastle for birthdays and other events up here, so it's nice to be able to repay the favour and make the trek for them a few times a year.

I don't think any of the nanos had the battery life Apple said they were supposed to have. I had a 3rd gen nano, which, brand new and at 0% backlight gave me a maximum of 10 hours. That quit in like four months (the sound just died) and I got a factory refurbished one as a replacement, because it was still under warranty. When I got that one, it gave me 10-15 hours, but never more than that, I'm sure. Three years later, it was giving me about TWO hours and once I drained the entire battery watching a 22 minute TV show. That's when I gave up on it.

Speaking of iPods and music, I just listened to the new August Burns Red for the first time. Holy. Fucking. Shit. That was awesome.

I reckon I was getting close to 20 hours or more out of my third generation nano when it was new, not so much after a couple of years of course. My first generation nano's battery life was pretty ordinary, these days I keep it in the car connected to a RoadTrip so it doesn't matter that it can't hold its charge for more than about an hour.

You actually got 20 hours? Lucky... A lot of my friends have/had a nano 3rd gen, and they were ALL getting the same as me. About 10-15 tops. One of my friends actually left his iPod on overnight just to test it out a couple years. Apparently you get max battery life by keeping the hold function on, turning off the Equalizer, and by keeping the backlight off. He did all that. He put it on around 5 or 6 pm and he woke up the next morning around 8 or 9 and the thing was already dead. This was when it was a few weeks old, and it couldn't even stay on for 15 hours in ideal conditions.

Also, my mom found some MP3 player while going through our attic. It's a really old one, and neither of us know what kind it is or how to even turn it on. I think it's probably dead though, because an MP3 player, that's been accidentally stored in a non-air-conditioned attic through five or more North Carolina summers and winters, isn't likely to work, particularly since it doesn't turn on. It's complete shit though, even it did work, it's got a 64MB storage capacity.

An antique. :cheeky:

I used to have a ridiculous Rio player with 128 mb and required a triple a battery every 5-10 hours. Loved that thing because it got me into music and Mediafire, had a radio and could take a beating.

Now I just have an old 80 gb Zune. Shitty battery life but is durable despite having a hard drive, and I have a dock to charge it every night. I actually need all that space though in case I want to listen to Bloc Party's second album or something.

Apparently, it belonged to one of my grandparents several years ago. They just gave it to us, because an MP3 player is fairly useless when you don't have a computer in your apartment.

So that could've been my first MP3 player (even before my 512MB 1st Generation iPod Shuffle) had I even known about it.

It's amazing how little 64MB is these days. I loaded three CDs on my iPhone yesterday and those alone sucked up about 200MB. Hooray for technology
