I may end up liking the Mavs a lot more if they can knock off the Lakers. I really don't see a sweep, as George said; I see the Lakers (in other words, Kobe) putting up a hell of a fight to avoid elimination. Mavs may end up winning in six or seven if the Lakers put up that hell of a fight.

I don't know about a suspension, because usually the punishment of getting ejected in an important game is enough. The problem is, that Artest's cheap shot was at the end of the game were his ejection did not mean anything for the Lakers.

I've said it before, if Artest gets ejected, the Lakers will give more minutes to Lamar Odom and maybe Matt Barnes, which makes them a lot tougher to defend for Dallas.

/edit: just read it on NBA.com -> Artest will miss game 3 as he got suspended by the league for his punch against JJ Barea.

I don't think the suspension is that unreasonable, what Artest did goes beyond "playoff basketball" and into the terrain of flat out dirty and unsportsmanlike. On the whole, it was a really dumb thing for him to do and he's only got himself to blame for the suspension.

I haven't really followed the playoffs so far, but damn I hope the Mavs win this...Since the Spurs got ridiculed and Boston will probably not make it, I couldn't care less who wins as long as the Lakers are out.

Suspension is well deserved. I no think he a fake tough guy at all but was a coward move picking on the smallest & perhaps the weakest no name player in Barea. If it was Marion, Dirk, Chandlah or even ageing Kidd, it would have been bit more respectable. Cuz you just don't make a statement like that on the bench player but somebody who matters more. Also the way he did that was sickening.

What's funny though was Marion and others doing anything but acting like they seen nuthin. Not even going quickly over to Barea to see if he's ok. Perhaps smart move according to textbook, but teams like Boston and Miami would have went distance to earn more respect. Particularly players like Wade or KG...

Barea was having a good game so Artest went after him and considering that Artest is crazy, rationalization of his action doesn't even matter. He crazy.

EDIT: Not really judging Mavericks, but this one incident wasn't really a likeable one for me. Anyone that played basketball knows what it's like to have someone your back.
