I have a rule with all my 2K Associations and Madden franchises - Year 1, I don't make any moves. I play with the cards I'm dealt with. I don't do any trades either. I shut them off. I like developing my players, and building through free agency and the draft. It's more fun that way than trading to build a super team, IMO.

I agree with this with the exception of minor moves. You don't mess with your core. The only trade I did in 2k11 with T'wolves in my first year was Luke Ridnour & Kosta Koufos to Rockets for Jordan Hill & Stephon Marbury. Even then, I normally wouldn't have dealt Ridnour, a key role player, but he really gave me the shits, I couldn't get his shot release down so I gave up on him & shipped his contract out, even though he's a solid player.
I have played by same rule with my previous Live Dynasties and 2k Associations, only very minor deals. So I turned down an offer from Spurs that would've netted me Tony Parker in a deal for Beasley. Doesn't seem right to trade core. I also like playing with the cards I'm dealt & developing through the draft & free agency. I guess it's more of an old school approach

I like to struggle. I don't want Carmelo Anthony. I'm going to make Wilson Chandler into that "number 2" star.

I know what you mean, I don't like playing with the Celtics because I have weapons on every single position which can become a very easy cake-walk at times. I prefer to try and bring up weak teams and develop that way, but I often get bored mid-way through the season because losing isn't fun.

Agreed, I don't really need to trade around with my Raps roster, because the team is actually really good. Only reason I would is because of an injury. If it was at the PF position, I'm fine. Magnum Rolle can step up. Love rebuilding teams

Hey Guys, I'm planning to reboot My Association, I only played 2 games when some of my files(including the NBA 2k11 folder) cannot be accessed. I don't know why, but after I cleaned My PC everything backs to normal. But I saw that KOVA is currently working on his new Roster, since I don't have a REditor I cannot edit my Current Roster, I dunno but I'm a big Fan of KOVA's Roster Projects. So can you tell me if it's a Bad Move to reboot My association(as bad as Making a New Team/ or doing a Thierry move) even though I will still use the same Team, same Thread and I only played 2 games in my previous Association?

Sim the 2 games to the same record and start posting from that point.
And it's not called "Pull a Thierry" anymore.

It's called "Pulling a Cleveland Wins"
Or "Pull a Houndy" or it can also be "Pull a Dare"

Cleveland Wins is the best example.

It really depends on the quality of the recaps. If you have an ambitious story with long recaps and/or beautiful graphics and end it prematurely, it is still called a Thierry (sorry man, but your batting average is still like .04). If it is just a series of run-of-the-mill stories that end after a few games, it is called pulling a Houndy.
Anyway, I think that we should just copy the first post from the dynasty section and replaced "dynasty" with "association" and maybe replace the Live screens with 2K ones. No offense Houndy, but that one is a lot better.

All right, I'll edit it in. The thing that strikes me though, is the guy who compiled all the tips never had a good dynasty/association.

Your point? Besides, he collaborated with two guys who made top 5 dynasties in badreligionau and Clutch.

No point. Just something to say. But damn, editing all the colors and pictures is a pain. In progress, expect it up soon.

Why don't you just quote it, copy, then paste it?

I know, I know, I'm just trying to shake my image a little, despite it's kind of impossible at this point.
Tue Feb 15, 2011 12:49 pm
kind of?
If your story lasts another six months to a year, then I think you'll have shaken (partially) your image.

What have I done? Until he retires this one, and then his twenty forthcoming ones, Thierrygate is over. Donezo. Not funny any more.

Colors. Colors.

I understand how replacing the pictures can be a pain, but the colors?

I'm goign to make a 'How to make a hyped Association' thread
Tue Feb 15, 2011 1:21 pm
Looks good.

Might be biased though due to the shoutout

Ok, I'll just reboot My Association, I'll start next month. BTW I'm just using a Simple Type of Game Recaps so it's not really a big deal but I'll use the same Thread.
