A team like the Knicks are always going to be interesting as a lower-end playoff seed, especially in the East. That eight-game stretch also looks pretty comfy, though you never know.

Seconded. I thought they were gonna give it to him. The Wolves actually aren't bad, but they are just such a noob team.

Darko had another good game. He have scored 20 or more points in 3 consecutive games now! Could this be his breakout year with the Wolves?

I hope so, but we've seen stretches like this from him before, and it is an extremely small sample size.

Gathered that, they didn't seem to be looking at the same thing.

cut whenever a miss happened while ignoring things like 8/10 or 6/9.

The newer one doesn't seem to take that into account either.

Even if some players focus when hitting shots, others will use it as a sign to keep bombing

Yeah, the player who's running hot does affect things. You obviously don't want to give an idiot an excuse to take bad shots.

If you tell me it's just luck there's no chance you get the shot, no chance for the heroics, no chance for expanded role, no chance for mo money mo problems, etc. You have every incentive to think you're on fire. While I have every incentive to think your random streak of luck is over and the next shot won't even glaze the rim, while my best odds are to go with the guy who over 5000 shots crushed you by a landslide.

Sure, but I don't think either of those things affect whether it's luck or not.

Don't forget our original point was Adelman pulling "hot" people (which in any segment of any game can't be considered so) to maintain his rotation for team harmony and standardization reasons. You can give a player having a good streak extra time until his luck runs out but there is no logical reason to ever think it's going to continue instead of dying and killing you just when it happens and it brings chaos to a set rotation. I've seen or analyzed far too many games where someone like Brandon Jennings goes off for 7/7 with no turnovers and then spends the rest of the game never hitting a shot or holding onto the ball.

Absolutely. I've not seen any of the games in question, so I can't really comment on them, I'm just talking about the hot hand in general. A few minutes of 100% shooting really isn't anything, it's the more prolonged periods that can survive time on the bench, timeouts, and whatnot (see: Kobe's 9 straight threes in 2003 surviving even after half time) that I'd consider acting on as a coach. Though obviously you don't want to get to the point the Lakers did in that game where everyone was standing around leaving Kobe having to hoist horrible shots.

Statistics? Margins of Error? Confidence Interval? Sample size of 9 shots being basically irrelevant?

Not familiar with the term 'confidence interval', or 'population' as used in your prior post. It seems like it'd mean 'sample size', but then you say the higher it goes the more unreliable the stats are.

Oh my god, is it Chris Bosh grabbing a rebound? Looks that way, but the caption has it as a dunk.

The Heat's Chris Bosh goes in for an easy dunk during the first half against Orlando

To his credit, he did have at least 20 and 10 in the three games leading up to the loss to the Magic yesterday.

Well, the only shots which he takes are layups and dunks. Many of them are open. I don't see how he doesn't produce high percentages.

Certainly a bit of an unusual stat line, 3/3 FG and 13/16 from the foul line.

Meanwhile, the Jazz are showing once again why it doesn't pay to give up after a slow start.

ANDRIS BIEDRINS! 28 points and 21 boards on 13/15 shooting against Memphis, too bad Warriors lost, but man what a game by Biedrins, I hope this game means he is back to his old self.

LeBron looked really unmotivated against the Sixers. (N) Joel was the best defender for the Heat, made life really tough for Brand, especially in the first half. (Y)

The Mavericks lead 49-51 halftime. Pretty nervous here
