In that case, I have been very impressed with 2K11... however, since everyone is reading and I've gone to the effort of making all the rookies, I will continue with this one till at least end of November. And see how far I get with that. I really want to start a Lakers story but I think a lot of people will boycott. :P

Yep, I'm gunning for the sweep. :) Kidd is challenging to use because he's so slow and has no offensive talent.

Durant Unstoppable As Stealth Edge Closer To Second Round
Game 3, First Round, 2013 NBA playoffs: Seattle Stealth at Portland Trailblazers 134-110 (Seattle leads 3-0)
Preview | Boxscore | Recap | Highlights

Image

APRIL 20, PORTLAND (AP) – Kevin Durant had a game for the ages as he threw in 46 points and 8 rebounds in a 24 point victory over the Portland Trailblazers. The win sets up the Seattle Stealth with an opportunity to sweep the series in the next game. Durant, the NBA’s leading scorer for the past 4 seasons, could not be slowed down as he hit shots from all over the basketball court.

“It was a special night for Kevin,” Stealth Head Coach Will Sit said after the game, “You get them sometimes and it was just one of those nights. Let’s hope he’s not too tired for Game 4.”

Allen Iverson was given considerable court time as the Stealth led by double digits from the beginning and that led to a 25 point haul for ‘The Answer’. Reshawn Tyson also scored 25 for the Stealth and Andrew Bogut finished with 17. Coach Sit was not happy with his team’s defense though, “We fell back into old habits. I don’t know how to get these guys to try and stop the ball from going in for the other team.”

Ben Gordon led Portland with 26 points and Brandon Roy added 19 and 8 assists. The pair watched as Durant went on his scoring run in their own building. Roy promised that he would change it up a little bit in Game 4. “I’m going to be more aggressive,” Roy said, “Our backs are against the wall so I will need to try and help us get back into this series.”

Seattle cruised to victory thanks to big quarters in the first and third periods. They opened the game with a high scoring 39-27 first quarter. Portland tried to wriggle their way back into the game by winning the second quarter 27-21 but the visiting side were able to seal the deal with a 40-25 third quarter.

“I came out to do business,” Durant exclaimed in a post-game interview, “And my team won. This is my team baby!”

Notes: Jason Kidd has revealed that he has been struggling recently due to fatigue. “My body isn’t like how it used to be when I was younger,” Kidd stated, “I need more time to recover. The playoffs are more taxing on the body. I just hope I get through all of this”… Coach Sit talked about how it would be great to sweep the Blazers after years of being eliminated by them…

Durant-Roy Showdown Ends With Blazers Win
Game 4, First Round, 2013 NBA playoffs: Seattle Stealth at Portland Trailblazers 126-128 (Seattle leads 3-1)
Preview | Boxscore | Recap | Highlights

Image

APRIL 22, PORTLAND (AP) – It was a performance reminiscent of Game 3 of the second round of the 2011 NBA playoffs. In that game, Brandon Roy scored 53 points and Kevin Durant finished with 52 points and 10 rebounds. Durant and the Stealth won that game. This time around, Roy won the individual battle and also won the war.

Roy turned in his most impressive performance of the season with 52 points; 35 in the first half. Durant countered with 47. The Stealth fell 2 points shy of advancing to the next round after having to fight back from being 12 points down midway through the fourth quarter. After a ferocious fight back, it took a missed layup from Andrew Bogut with 14 seconds remaining to put the Blazers in the clear.

“What a game tonight,” Blazers Coach Nate McMillan marveled, “We saw it two years ago and we saw it again tonight. It just shows how much of a team player Brandon is for him to be capable of doing that tonight and sit back on other nights and let others do the job.” A humble Roy took to the podium after the game to describe his antics, “I don’t know what to say. Unbelievable. I guess I was just on fire tonight.”

Stealth Coach Will Sit congratulated Roy on his performance but made no excuses for his team, “Brandon Roy played brilliant tonight but my guys should have really knuckled down on defense. I don’t know how many times I got to say this but we have to play some defense. All of this is becoming a farce. We should have swept these guys and now we have to go back home. We could have been done but now we need to play another game.”

Durant fronted the media and responded to a question about how they lost, “I didn’t try hard enough. I was going easy. Should have sealed the deal. My bad!”

The series returns to Seattle where Sit believes his side can close out the series but also lamented how they were in a bad position, “We’re up 3-1 and we’re going home. I hope that complacency doesn’t creep into the equation. We need to put in a focused and strong effort in the next game to finish these guys off.”

The game was a see-sawing affair with both sides exchanging the lead several times. The teams were separated by just 6 points at half-time; Portland led 63-57. At that stage Roy had done most of the work and it was in the third period when the rest of his team finally got the message: He needed a little bit of help. That was when Ben Gordon stepped up and scored 21 third quarter points.

Gordon had 5 three pointers in the third period and led the Blazers to a 41-32 third quarter edge over the visiting team. He had no scored a single point till then. “That was when I knew we ran into the wrong team tonight,” Coach Sit stated.
The Blazers shot out to a double digit lead and held that for all of the fourth quarter. Seattle bravely fought back and got as close as 2 points from tying the score. The game came down to the final seconds when Gordon sank two free throws with 19 seconds left to put his side ahead by 4 points. The Stealth used their final timeout to set up a play for Durant. Durant could not free himself so the ball was passed to Bogut. Bogut’s layup rolled in and out. Roy was sent to the line where he made one free throw to push the lead to 5 points. Mingyu Li scored a consolation three pointer with 4.5 seconds left to cut the lead to 2 but the Stealth could not force the foul to stop play.

Now they will have to go home and finish their rivals off.

Notes: Coach Sit does not expect a repeat of Portland’s shooting night after they were 17/32 from behind the arc compared to Seattle shooting 3/16… Durant scored 26 points in the first half… Ramon Sessions was another player scoreless at halftime. He ended up joining Gordon in the shooting-fest… Darko Milicic played his first minutes of the postseason…

Stealth Cruise To Second Round
Game 5, First Round, 2013 NBA playoffs: Portland Trailblazers at Seattle Stealth 74-100 (Seattle wins series 4-1)
Preview | Boxscore | Recap | Highlights

Image

APRIL 24, SEATTLE (AP) – Kevin Durant completed a hat-trick of 40+ point games and the Seattle Stealth put in a focused team effort to storm into the second round of the NBA postseason. Durant was completely dominant as he finished with 48 points and 10 rebounds. His teammates helped to make it tough on the Blazers to score in the second half and Portland were all but eliminated halfway through the final quarter.

Blazers Coach Nate McMillan conceded that it was back to the drawing board for his team as Ramon Sessions endured another inefficient shooting performance. “We really missed that depth that we had when Steve (Nash) and Jerryd (Bayless) were around,” a disappointed McMillan stated, “I’m not happy with our personnel there (at point guard).” Sessions shot 5 for 17 from the field to finish the series; he did not shoot much better over the five games played.

Coach Sit was finally happy with his team and wanted to see more of how his team played in Games 2 and 5 in the next round, “When we played good defense, we dominated. We can try and score all we want but when the other team gets hot, there are times when we struggle to keep up.” Sit also looked ahead at the teams that the Stealth may play against, “Utah and Golden State are both good teams but there are huge stylistic differences. Joe Johnson and Deron Williams pretty much run the Jazz in that slower tempo half court game. The Warriors just run, run, run. I think we match up better with Utah. Everything I’ve preached goes out the window if we play Golden State.”

Durant was happy to see his team through, “It’s great to lead my guys through. I told you I was playing easy. Tonight I really switched it on.” He also discussed his MVP chances, “I’d love to win most valuable player. I guess if I don’t win it, the award doesn’t really suit me. I am more than a player here in Seattle. This is my team baby. Do they have a most valuable team award? That’s me man.”

Reshawn Tyson added 17 points, 11 assists in a supporting role but his main value came on the defensive end as he held Ben Gordon to 9 for 28 shooting. “I just wanted to make sure there was no repeat of the last game,” Tyson said. Andrew Bogut was solid as he posted 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists.

Gordon led Portland with 24 points and Brandon Roy added 21. Sessions was the only other Blazer in double figures with 12 points and 9 assists. Greg Oden and Carlos Boozer did not get much of a chance to influence the game and that will be a big talking point heading into the offseason for them; especially Boozer.

“I don’t think Carlos is happy with his role now that Nash is gone,” an anonymous source within the Blazers organisation stated, “I think he may ask to be traded to a contender because he doesn’t want to stick around for the rebuilding phase that I think Portland will be sliding into.”

Notes: Seattle were the second team to advance. The Atlanta Hawks were the first after sweeping the New York Knicks 4-0 in their first round playoff series… The two teams were separated by 3 points at half time before Seattle outscored Portland 57-34 in the second half... Head Coach Sit was announced as the NBA’s Coach of the Year. He will accept his award in a press conference in the coming days...
