March Madness Special
Duke Eliminated By Memphis
March 25, 2013
ATLANTA (AP) – 20 year old Tigers F Don Elliot scored 18 points and added 7 rebounds to help second seeded Memphis take out the third seeded Blue Devils 65-52. 21 year old NBA hopeful Zee Otoo was outplayed by Elliot on both ends of the floor. The 6’8” Otoo finished with just 6 points on 3 for 14 shooting.
6’9” Elliot has considerably raised his draft stock during the tourney and is not looking likely to enter the NBA Draft. The Memphis sophomore has impressed scouts with his energetic play and willingness to do all of the dirty work. One NBA scout watched the matchup between Otoo and Elliot and stated, “I thought Zee Otoo was going to have his way with Elliot but I am definitely coming away impressed with this result.”

Cuse Orangemen End Cavaliers Run
March 26, 2013
ATLANTA (AP) – 11 seeded Virginia’s Cinderella story came to an end at the might of the Syracuse Orangemen. The second seeded Orange led from start to finish and emerged victorious on an 83-58 score line. Cuse sharpshooting senior guard Jerry Manning put in a scintillating performance as he knocked down all 7 of his three point attempts. Manning, 21, finished with 28 points.
The Virginia Cavaliers’ star PG Christian Oliver could not repeat the heroics he had against UCLA. Oliver is likely to have played his last game of college basketball and he finished with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists.
The tourney is being held in Atlanta, Georgia and NBA SF Josh Smith of the Hawks was in attendance to watch the game between Virginia and Syracuse. He came away impressed with the 20 year old German, Oliver. “He’s a good player,” Smith said, “We could use someone like him.” However, it’s not looking likely Oliver would drop as far as where the Hawks will be picking in the upcoming Draft.
Syracuse (2 seed) joins LSU (1 seed), Memphis (2 seed) and Kentucky (4 seed) to advance into the Final Four.

Manning Impressive But Clark, Crewhead With Last Laugh
March 28, 2013
ATLANTA (AP) – Jerry Manning exploded for 32 points but Syracuse fell on their own sword in the dying moments of an intense Final Four matchup. Kentucky looked lackluster throughout the game but consecutivly rushed three point misses with time winding down secured the Wildcats’ path to the 2013 NCAA Final.
Manning scored 24 points in the first half, all on three point shots, but was shut down in the second half. His teammates weren’t aggressive enough going to the rim and fell in love with the outside shot. Kentucky battled back from 8 points down at halftime to record a narrow 76-72 win. Freshman sensation Coby Clark led UK with 22 points and 15 rebounds. Junior SF Justine Crewhead responded to jeers for having a ‘girl’s name’ by recording 14 points and 6 assists.
