Golden State is not a city name...its a name for California that they decided to use

the Warriors are really located in Oakland, CA...which is is east of San Francisco (the city)
Oakland is on the San Francisco Bay though

so yea...that's their story
San Francisco is just the more popular name to use between that and Oakland I suppose.
