Agree with Panco, absolutely no risk in handballing to save a sure goal in the last second of extra time.

Axel, I don't know what I would have done. Maybe I would've used my hands, maybe it would've sailed over my shoulders. Too hard to say as it was the right defensive play to make if you're from Uruguay. Can't blame any defender from doing it. That being said, it's still cheating & unsportsmanlike, but I still think diving & play acting is much worse to the game than deliberate handballs.

Thierry, I wouldn't expect anything else from an Henry fan

I finally got around to seeing that intentional handball by Suarez...the way I think of it is this: it's similar to basketball how when one team is down in the dying seconds of the game but does not have possession. So they intentionally foul an opposition player hoping they miss the free throws and your team get the ball back. In this case he took a huge chance in getting a red card and hoping Ghana missed the PK. Fortunately for him it totally worked in his favor. It's like employing Hack-A-Shaq  .

Kingson played well for the tourney...hard to believe this guy is a 4th-in-line goalkeeper for a team like Wigan. Must totally suck for Asamoah Gyan, knowing you totally had a chance to win it...I feel bad for the guy.

That's a good way to look at it.

The X, Panco: You guys can look at it any way you want, I'm not going to force you to call it a risk, but that's what I'm going by. I agree with The X about diving though, divers get on my last nerves.

Oh no! How can you think that? African teams upset this WC, not Ghana though, but they were gonna lose eventually. You could've used those 20 bucks for something useful though. :|

Maybe you should follow your own advice about things that don't concern others, I would if you would stop concerning yourself and jumping on other's dick about their punctuation.

I want Argentina/Germany to either win it, or at least them Dutch supermen. Screw Spain.
Because if Spain wins, Phil89 would be mocking me endlessly.

Looks like it's going to be Europe 2-0 South America in the quarter finals. And Spain play Paraguay later.
Uruguay may be their only hope left after today.

Strange how the stars like Rooney, Gerrard, Ronaldo and Messi haven't really showed up this World Cup.

What a horribly boring game between Spain and Paraguay. Aside from the 3 consecutive minutes when 2 penalties/misses occurred, pretty much nothing happened in this fucking game. I don't see how Spain could pass the next round.

Although there are a few new young players for Germany this time. But the Spanish team is virtually the same. Should be a great game. (Y)

Virtually the same? Torres is completely out of shape and the whole tiki taka concept is not nearly working as well as in 2008. If it wasn't for Villa's striking qualities the Spanish were already out of the tourney. Xavi and Iniesta are also not playing as well as last year.

Still Spain is the odds-on favourite, simply because of their name. But beating England 4-1 (luckily) and Argentina 4-0 (well deserved) should not be overlooked. This is the best playing german squad since 1974, everybody in this team can play which makes the game quicker and lovely to watch.

Yes, I must admit that it is amazing to see Germany play such beautiful football. I honestly never thought they had it in them :P

All that being said, I expect Spain to beat them by 1 goal, courtesy of David Villa of course :P

But I'll have to wait & see what the octopus says.

Virtually the same in terms of personnel. Swap Marchena for Pique, Senna for Busquets, Silva + Fabregas onto the bench for Alonso and Villa.
Torres is coming off a couple months out after a bad injury. Shame he isn't fully match fit. :(

The elephant in the room as far as Argentina was concerned was their defense. No one talked about it as long as lots of goals were going in though.
Germany have shown that they will slaughter you on the counter attack. They are a very exciting team to watch.
The main thing that works in their favour is that a lot of the youngsters came through the youth teams together, so they play more as a team rather than a group of individual stars.

It should certainly be the more exciting Semi Final, with respect to Holland and Uruguay. (Y)

Germany is playing some epic soccer, they are scary as hell. I think they'll come out on top against Spain. They bait you in to thinking that you can attack and then their swtich from defense to offense is amazingly quick.

I'm just giddy the Netherlands has reached this far. And I was glad Ghana got kicked out after beating the US.

Exactly, they've always been very solid in defense (literally, did you guys see that dude get a pretty heavy kick right in his nose and not even go down or anything?), but I've never seen them being so efficient at counter attacks in the past.
I still see them beating Spain, or at least I hope so.

I think the Final will come down to Netherlands and Germany, in which case I'll want the Netherlands to win simply because I want a different team to win the WC for the first time.
