Hardaway, Mutombo Mulling on Retirement?
Posted: 1/6/2008 10:05:00 AM

The two Cavaliers veterans are split in their decision on whether to retire or return for another season and continue their quest for an NBA Championship.

"I'm 50-50 on my decision right now," said Penny Hardaway. "I still have one year left on my contract but I'm not sure if my knees can still handle a rigorous season. The mind is willing but the body isn't cooperating."

Meanwhile, Dikembe Mutombo is currently on a trip to Africa to help facilitate the league's "Basketball Without Borders" outreach program. His agent has said that the Congo native is still consulting members of his family to help him decide if he'll sign another NBA contract or end an illustrious NBA career.

Love's Weight Issues Causes Draft Stock to Fall
Posted: 31/5/2009 08:25:02 AM

Kevin Love is an incredibly strong and gifted big man with a basketball IQ that is off the charts. He has a great mix of physicality and finesse to his game and shows maturity well beyond his years. With all this upsides one would think that he should be a lottery pick but that is not the case.

According to an anonymous NBA Executive teams were turned off with Love's weight and speed issues. "He is a great player no doubt, but GM's are scared to draft him becaues of his weight issues and commitment to conditioning. He needs to get in better shape."

The 6'9" UCLA Bruin currently weighs 254 lbs but is built more on baby fats instead of muscles. He needs to spend more time in the weight room and work on his cardio as well. He has not been in the best shape this past NCAA season, often being the last man up the court and getting winded very quickly

Lakers Sweeps Charlotte, Wins 15th NBA Title

trophy on his right hand and the Finals MVP trophy on the other.

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers are once again on top of the NBA after crushing the Charlotte Bobcats, sweeping them 4 to nothing in the NBA Finals. This is the 15th title for the storied Los Angeles Lakers franchise and their first since 2003 when the team was top-billed by the Kobe-Shaq tandem.

The Bobcats' Cinderella story didn't have a happy ending despite having home court advantage, as the more experienced and wiser Lakers team controlled the series. It was only in Game 4 that Charlotte came close to a win but Kobe Bryant's three-pointer with 8 seconds left ultimately gave Los Angeles the championship. Jason Richardson had a chance to extend the series for the Bobcats but his jumper missed as time expired.

"This championship is special," said Bryant, the Finals MVP. "After years of frustration, we are back at the top."

For Bryant this championship means a whole lot more than the first three. Probably because this is the first time he won it without the big shadow of his former teammate Shaquille O'Neal.

"I don't have to hear that criticism, that idiotic criticism anymore,'' said Bryant. "It was annoying.''

For Lakers coach Phil Jackson, this was title No. 10, moving him past legendary Celtics coach Red Auerbach for the most by a coach in league history.

"I'll smoke a cigar in honor of Red,'' Jackson said. "He was a great guy.''

For Pau Gasol. For Derek Fisher. For Lamar Odom. For Trevor Ariza. For Mikki Moore and for Andrew Bynum and the rest of the Lakers, this was a title to savor.

"It's a dream come true,'' Gasol said. "The completion of a goal.''

Game 4 seemed like it would have been a great game. Are you planning on playing another season?

As everyone is asking, has this one finished?

Re: |CAVS| NBA Finals Results

An 8th seed winning it in the Finals... Live 08 continues to surprise. Though it was the Lakers, so go figure. By the way, what's with the mock draft? Derrick Rose 7th, Kevin Love 40th?! Haha, where the hell did you get that? Anyway, is this seriously finished man? I can still see you winning the Finals in your next season. Monthly recaps would certainly get you there faster. Don't stop now!
