Adjusting tendencies

Postby Christian. on Mon Jun 22, 2009 6:55 pm

Currently in the second season of my association.

CPU point guards shoot a lot of 3s.

Which tendency should I reduce?

Point guard's 3pt tendency or CPU's 3pt tendency?

Most of the possesion they shoot 3s. Even if I defend those bastard point guards they still force to shoot 3s.

Does it matter what team you play? If so, take a look at the coach settings of the opponent.
It influences the way they play.

For instance I played a team that got a new coach; he had 50 for all values and they played the most boring basketball you could imagine.

If it's all teams I wouldn't know what it is, especially if it's only the PG's doing it.

It usually happens in the 2nd season (2009-10). It's so annoying to see Jason Kidd, Gilbert Areanas, Aaron Brooks, Louis Williams, Diener (forgot his name. Pacers' point guard), and some generic point guard rookies take 3s in most of the possession.

Since I bought the game I never tweak the playbook, does it affects a team's gameplay? If so, what do I need to tweak?

The playbook only works for user vs. user games. The cpu automatically chooses what plays to run, no matter what you assign.

I'm not sure about the playbook, but my situation was like this:

I simmed the regular seasons and in my 3rd season I made it to the playoffs for the first time.
8th seed vs Denver Nuggets 1st seed

The first game I beat them to easily and they didn't look like the Nuggets at all & their line-up was pretty much the same as now (Nene - K-Mart - Melo - J.R. Smith - Billups + Birdman & Iverson! signed FA lol).

So I found they had a new coach 50 for everything and he had the Blazers playbook assigned to him.

So I changed that to Nuggets but I changed all the settings as well: crash boards more, attack basket, fast break, make them much more aggressive and it was a lot better after that.

What do I need to tweak?

CPU averages 25+ 3pt attempt per game.

Do you have a high value for 3pts going in, in your sliders? Maybe the cpu exploits that.
I never had the same as you, my value is 50.

Otherwise, what I said earlier, try to look at the coach settings of the opponent and see if that makes a difference.

I just looked at my own and Mike D'Antoni for instance has value 80 for taking 3pt shots.
I guess his team will take a lot of shots from outside.

Stan Van Gundy 95!

PJ Carlesimo (Thunder) 25..

See if it makes a difference and if you don't like it, lower it a bit.

Good luck.
